super efficient staff, every single member of staff encountered during my stay was open and friendly, beautiful hotel, delicious breakfast, coffee and tea in room, restaurant food excellent - best nicoise salad ever! Flight delayed - staff managed to let me keep my room until I departed. Absoluteley deserves to be a leading hotel.

Comfortable beds and well located.
Staff was often very unhelpful, snobby and dishonest. We were given a small room in a lower category than we had paid for and they said that they were full and couldn’t give us the room we initially paid for, but refused to reimburse the money we had paid for the room in a superior category. They said “it’s just like this and there’s nothing we can do.” After verifying on booking we saw that there were indeed rooms left in the category we initially paid for and other categories as well (as the hotel wasn’t full at all). They then insisted that the given room was the category we paid for (as if we were idiots). Then they changed tactic and said that if we REALLY have to have the category we paid for they would have to move other guests so that we could take their room (this is not true and something they said to not want to bother with our request anymore, as they figured it would make us feel bad.) it’s just such a ridiculous and unprofessional way to treat paying guests that have travelled half across the world to stay in their hotel… also the question remains why it would even occur to them to treat guests like this. It blows my mind.
We kept insisting calmly but firmly that what they are doing isn’t correct and that we’d prefer to leave the hotel if this is how our stay is going to continue. Finally the manager Roberto agreed to give us an upgrade to a suite and apologized for the inconvenience as we had also asked to potentially extend our stay with 5 extra nights… long story short. All this nonsense robbed us of an entire day where we were given misleading information on purpose and not being able to unpack and finally relax after a very long travel. The two women who were playing cowboy in the reception kept having an attitude with us more or less during our stay but the rest of the staff were lovely.
