Sandcastle is a great place to stay, but DO NOT stay in Studio 27A. Not even if is free.

The breakfast at the restaurant located on the property was excellent and our server was amazing. Great customer service(can’t remember his name but he was a very nice gentleman).

We arrived at the property around 2pm to check in. The ladies at the reception counter had no knowledge or paperwork pertaining to our accommodations, because the owner of the apartment failed to provide them with that information. But they accommodated us by providing us with wrist bands, so that we could access the amenities on the property until they were able to sort things out for us. They tried contacting the owner of the apartment we had the reservations with and was not successful. My daughter googled and found a number for someone named Janice. Got her on the phone and she had no info about our reservation. After several hours Janice gave me a price to pay reception for our stay, which was higher than what was advertised on booking.com. Finally, got into the room and the first thing to great us was a HUGE dead cockroach in the middle of the floor. Then I went to shower and there was no hot water. Not only did we not have how water, the TV did not work, the wifi didn’t work and the fridge stunk…because it doesn’t work and they had it closed. The only thing that worked in this apartment was the AC…thank God. This room needs to be condemned. But speaking with other guest’s on the property, they didn’t have the same experience. I don’t think the owner for our apartment cares about the guests, it seemed to be all about the money. Which is a bad reflection on Sandcastle , because it’s a beautiful, well maintained place, however; our apartment was worse than the dump. We slept with the lights on because my daughter was terrified of the roaches and that was the only way to prevent them from coming out at night and crawling around everywhere. Throughout my stay I didn’t meet anyone responsible for this specific room and on the morning of checkout I complained to reception, they tried to contact the owner and was unsuccessful. I didn’t even receive my refund that was over charged. My recommendation is ….stay at Sandcastle, BUT STAY AWAY FROM STUDIO 27A.🤮🤮🤮

Stay in ochi

Very Good location. We had to extend our stay in Ochi and they were quite flexible with it and accommodated us.

I asked the cleaning lady how often she would come and clean the room, she said every 2days which didn't happen, after 7days I had to ask her and clean the apartment. Found few cockroaches in the room.

Disappointing

Being in town-location Access to beach and pool Studio had a decent view compared to alot of other rooms Restaurant was decent

Room not stocked with basic items and linens, no towels for the pool. Nothing for wash up or to do dishes and only a sheet on the bed.. Stove, kettle and shower not working, waited 2 days to shower as not draining. Toaster and coffee pot hidden away and not available for use Limited cups and cutlery Fridge dirty on arrival Lack of response from. Janice and owner. Only got a response from owner late and after I had to go to the front desk to have maintenance come and Janice called directly from the front desk. Wasted 2 days waiting to have items fixed Unfair exchange rates Being hustled on the grounds and locals around inside past security Extremely rude female bartender at the pool bar Should receive money back due to all the trouble and having nothing working and waiting 2 days around instead of enjoying our holiday Inaccurate photos of the room and items supplied. Pictures showed a full stove and oven with different cupboards and headboard Listed as stove, Toaster and coffee pot and nothing like that there

Awesome

Location was great good for food, beaches and duty free items.

I'm assuming that this particular studio has a sole owner, it would have been good if we had house keeping more then one day, for the number of days stayed. Trash accumulated and bathroom needed attention, on the other side the resort has an entrance onto the beach which only can be entered beginning from 8:30 am. However the beach was awesome and the food was good and the people are outstanding!!!

If you are looking for a resort don't look here. Traveling with children or elderly don't come here.

I like that this location is in the middle of everything. It was easy to walk to supermarkets and stores to shop for souvenirs. Great tour guides willing to travel anywhere in the city to show you a great time. Facility has a beautiful variety of plant life all around the hotel.

Front desk doesn't care much for the private guest and will not help you unless you make them by constantly asking for help. Check in is confusing and torturous, nobody seems to know anything and frequently passes the problem from one employee to the other like the playing catch with your time, energy and patience. The pool is not clean, no ice, no water, no wifi for guests waiting 5+ hours to check-in because front desk doesn't want to speak up and say "hey we only take cash" so they'll have you waiting forever for the owner to contact you but you won't have any service if you aren't from Jamaica. So after hours of asking for help, the owner is finally contacted using the hotel phone, which will be thrown in your direction and then snatched away when you are done. Housekeeping where... my entire room was dirty including the towel for the floor by the tub. I reserved a room for 4 guests but only given 2 towels and one semi clean washcloth. No amenities what so ever included in this stay besides dirty dishes and cookware. The beds were extremely hard and you can feel the springs when you lay down. The blankets had burn holes despite the No smoking signs posted. No cleaning supplies available, brooms and mop were practically unusable, trust me I tried to use really hard I have two small children and they constantly make crumbs. Those brooms are a joke everytime I sweep the crumbs just stay on the floors I have to hand swipe them into the dust pan that was very nasty. To get to the beach you have to go through a gate if she leaves before you do you will be stuck on the other side of the "jail" until you walk around to the front of the property or someone comes to open the gate. Sandcastles does not provide beach chairs nor towels for beach goers. You will have to pay the beach to use a chair or umbrella.

Not worth the money for short stay

The location is great and on-site staff where nice and place looks very nice

First of all The host was not very professional as the room door did not lock right from time we got there had to waste my time waiting for her to come and figure it out then I paid to much money as I checked in around 4pm and had to be out by 11am so not even a full day for 15000 Jamaican dollars I contacted host to stay a bit later but was told no fill like I got ripped off didn't get time to do nothing as when I booked I wasn't told pool closed at 5pm and beach closed at 4pm and it was no where in the ad it was a total waste of time and money also beds where like sleeping on a boxstring with out mattress not good at all

Great location but need more work done.

The location is great. Staffs are friendly. Restaurant upstairs thier staff were excellent plus the food and the price were reasonable.

The room I stayed in has no hot water and i couldn't take a comfortable shower. Face basin facet tap the water splases when turn on. Too many out siders hang around the bar and the music wasn't family like.

What breakfast?? The location was very good, ..

In the first morning we got up the was floor was messy, my wife had mop it .. The cleaning lady was very pushy, she actaully rushed us out of the room before midday..

No comfort on bed and room needs some updated decor but location is a winner.

The location of the property.

Arrived and no comforter on the bed only sheets. Contacted the housekeeper for a comforter was unable to obtain one until the night before we where scheduled to check out after having to contact the manager. When the housekeeper arrived we became aware of the comforter being in a locked closet in the room. Bathroom is very small and the room could use some updated decor. Beach was closed.

What we liked: Location- great. The overall property was cosy. The room was as expected in terms of size. Wifi and hot water works. The TV has Netflix. The kitchenette has a microwave and refrigerator. There was a bar downstairs where we could get food late if we wanted. Ocho Rios Bay beach was close and complimentary.

What we did not like: Punctuality- dissatisfied; We went on time for check-in but waited almost 2 hours to get in which really placed us in a bad mood. Cleanliness- Could have been better. The kitchenette cupboard and wall next to the stove was greasy. We found hair under the pillow and we found a bundle of hair in the bedside table drawer. A cricket was in the room somewhere annoying the crap out of me.

Had a great time. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Good location close to everything.

Location was great. Customer service from everyone on property was excellent.

Beds could be a little more comfy and have blankets as well. Was a good stay overall.

It was somewhat decent for one night

The location was good. The beds were okay.

The process to get the keys took over an hour! The internet and tv had major issues. And it was on the 3rd floor and we had to carry our luggage up. Luckily someone who was cleaning was available and helped me get one of the bags up the stairs. I stayed at Sandcastle about 20 years ago and it has really gone down. The quality is not the same, the beach is polluted and cloudy with chemicals I guess. I could not swim in it. The pool was super shallow and small. I thought the hotel was more like a 3/4 star but it felt like a 1 or 2 star. I would never go back or recommend anyone to stay here. So disappointing.

Less than bland experience

It's in a central location and there is a herbal shop right next to it that had some exceptional customer service.

It took more than 1 hour to get checked into the room and while there waiting we were hardly looked at. There was no consideration for our time or any common courtesy shown. Food options on the premises were very scarce.

It’s a lovely property but it could use a bit of renovating. Would be nice to see it modernized a bit.

It’s close proximity to restaurants, bars and the town of Ocho Rios

There was no hot water in the shower and the shower itself was very small and clumsy. Additionally, the pool opens at 11:00 am which is far too late in my estimation and it closes at 6:00 pm which is far too early.

The fact that the amount that was said to be paid was increased. No one came to clean either even tho thats what they said the increase fee was for. On arrival no one was there to meet with me i had to be calling numerous of times.
