I chose Nikkei Palace mainly because of its convenient location and because I wanted a room with a bathtub for my parents, who were visiting from Japan.
I had read previous reviews and heard from someone I know who had stayed here before, so I was aware that the building was quite old. However, the hotel and the room were indeed older than I expected. I think the rooms and especially the bathrooms would benefit from some renovation or updating.
Although I booked the room specifically because it had a bathtub, I found the bathroom was not as nice as it looked in the photos, so we ended up not using the bathtub.
That said, this is not really a complaint, as the age of the building was already apparent from the reviews. The location is very convenient, and I especially appreciated having Japanese-style breakfast options such as green tea, rice, miso soup, and pickles.
The age of the building and room itself was not a problem for us, but unfortunately, the TV was also quite old. We had planned to relax and watch Netflix together as a family, but the TV did not support Netflix or other streaming services.
Also, the internet connection was quite slow. It was not completely unusable, but I sometimes had trouble downloading files I needed for work, which was inconvenient.

The location is practical, however the area does not seem safe in the evening for walking anywhere near the hotel. It is an old hotel, but the facilities and the room are kept very clean. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fine, they have a lot of pastries, eggs and some finger food typical of Brazil.
The hotel is in an old area of town.

Central location to Liberdade and metro
Discount to get a massage in the spa just before checkout which was great. The masseuse was lovely & did a fab job
Room was nice a spacious & the shower was good too. Tv was plenty big enough
We stayed with a disabled friend & they met his needs really well.
I would stay here again if I was visiting Sao Paulo. As we were a group of friends staying for 2 nights, staff gave us a map of the local area so we could find our way round which was really helpful
When checking in, the guy who checked us in couldve been a bit more polite.
The enamel in the bath had chipped away so it put me off wanting to use it but not enough to not stay there again
Would've been nice to have some hot drink making facilities and better windows in the room

I had a wonderful stay at the Nikkey Palace Hotel in Liberdade, the heart of São Paulo’s Japanese district. As a writer, the location was perfect for me, being close to where I was working.
The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and I loved the delicious breakfast, with its delightful mix of Brazilian and Japanese flavours. I also greatly enjoyed the dinners.
As it was winter in southern Brazil, I found the room rather cold, and some parts of the facilities, especially the shower doors and the old windows, would benefit from renovation and modernisation.
Overall, I had a very pleasant and memorable experience. With a little updating, this charming hotel could be even more wonderful. I would happily return!
