Zoi Retreat Hotel Zanzibar

My husband and I stayed at Zoi Retreat to celebrate our anniversary and had a such an amazing experience. We stayed in the beach facing balcony room which was so beautiful to wake up to and spend time in. The cozy facility gives a private resort feel, the staff are amazing and the pool and direct beach access were wonderful as well. It was very close to great diving shop and diving location which was a plus.

I didn’t feel comfortable lying on the beach chairs by resort by myself, take a walk or even go into the water because of the all the vendors (mostly male) pacing the area outside of the resort and coming up and constantly engaging with me and others. Wish something could be done about this.

All facilities are in good condition and working. Property was kept clean and tidy throuought our stay. Security all round during the day and night. Very tasty meals and diverse menu

For future travelers, i'm flagging 3 issues with this hotel ( Idk what it has that many good reviews i wish i havent fall for the good reviews beforehands of booking) 1- Food quality and price – The food was very disappointing given the high prices. Just outside the hotel, there are excellent restaurants at half the cost. The quality of both food and drinks was poor. For example, they claimed the juice was freshly made with natural fruits, but it was clearly canned juice. 2. No first aid kit available – At midnight we urgently needed basic medical supplies, but the hotel had no first aid kit. We had to go out into very dark surroundings to find medication ourselves. For the price this hotel charges, the minimum would be to provide such essential safety items. 3. Harassment on the beach – The beach boys harassed us to an unimaginable extent. It became so bad that we stopped lying on the beach altogether. At one point, one of them even followed me into the water. Finally, there was no trash cans in the rooms By comparison, we stayed in Kizimkazi at a hotel that was half the price, served much better food, offered more space, and allowed us to swim peacefully. The value was incomparable.
