The location is perfect: all accommodations have a downhill view over the sea. There were +/- 25 accommodations, so there's a lot of space for the guests. The outdoor swimming pool offers a view over the small beach, sea. When the weather is not cloudy, you can even enjoy (part of) the sunset from the pool. The resort has several spots with sun lounges, all offer fantastic views over the sea.
The resort restaurant is perfect: the best food on the entire island with a lot of choice (mostly asian & a little bit western food, we recommend asian food), great view from the restaurant over the resort and sea, Unlimited à la carte breakfast, for lunch we ate outside the resort but we had supper every evening at the resort restaurant. Consider the restaurant itself as part of the experience at Shantaa (that you can't miss!).
The staff is very professional and has attention for detail. When we arrived at Shantaa, a staffmember immediatly took care of our luggage. During the smooth check-in, we received a cool drink and refreshing towel (in thai "phâa yen").
From day 1, the staff also knew our accommodation number by heart, this makes you feel as an important customer rather than a room number.
On another day, we were sitting on lounge poufs in the bar and started a conversation with a female staffmember. After 2 minutes the conversation was still ongoing and she adopted a respectful half-crouch while speaking with us, so that we would be at the same height.
To some people these things might seem trivial or details, but to us it felt like nonverbal courtesy that we appreciated very much throughout our stay!
The opening hours of the swimming pool are a little bit limited. It would be really nice if they could extend those opening hours for example till 22:00.

We loved the atmosphere here. There were storms when we went there, so we didn’t get to enjoy swimming in ocean as the tides were too high, which was unfortunate. Despite that, we were still happy using resort’s facilities to relax and spend our quality time together.
I couldn’t find the phone in the resort, so it was quite hard for me to contact them in an instance when I needed to ask them something. Since the resort is huge, it takes a while to reach at the reception. If you have difficulty walking, perhaps this is not the one for you.

This is an amazing boutique hotel with exceptional staff, stunning views, and one of the few properties we would rate a perfect 10.
We stayed in the Sweet Adult Suite, which features a unique open-air style bathroom and incredible ocean views. The restaurant was excellent, with plenty of delicious vegetarian options, and we especially enjoyed the large infinity pool.
We visited during the off-season, which made for a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing stay. The breakfast selection was outstanding, and the resort thoughtfully provides games, paddleboards, life jackets, and snorkeling equipment for guests to enjoy.
The attention to detail really stood out. The rooms include complimentary water bottles and snacks, and the restaurant offers free drinking water—something that is surprisingly uncommon in Thailand.
Overall, Shantaa Resort delivered an unforgettable experience, and we would happily return.
I would not say these are bad things but things you should be aware of when booking. 1. No TV. They want you to be focused on the scenery. 2. This place is in nature and therefore there are animals and bugs around the area. The place is clean and this should be expected on an island. 3. You need scooter / taxi to get around. There is nothing walking distance however the resort is amazing and you can spend all day there. 4. The beach attached to the resort is rocky; however a few minute walk gets you to a swimming beach.
