The host was fantastic!
So welcoming and enthusiastic about my travel plans. He gave amazing local wagyu beef recommendations!
The room was surprisingly spacious with plenty of room for suitcases, which is rare in Japan. The shared showers were spotless, and the fridge in the room was super handy.
The absolute highlight was the free access to the local public bathhouse (sento), complete with a lovely bath caddy/tote bag and toiletries.
The location is also perfect: practically in the city center and very close to public transit
The reception area and the actual accommodation are in two separate spots, but Google Maps directs you smoothly to the right location, so it wasn't an issue at all.

The property offers free access to the onsen close by which is filled with many locals. You can go to the port, the city center and china town by foot. There are shared bathrooms and showers and the staff is very kind. You also get to drink a sake from Kobe on arrival with the owner.
The kitchen does not fully function, but this is no problem since there are plenty good dining offers around. Also the water in the shower was broken while we were there (there was only cold water) but the owner informed us beforehand and recommended to just shower at the onsen instead.

Nice decoration, nice staff, and get free onsen ticket, free onsen egg at breakfast!
Wrong direction guide at map app, take a little bit more time to find the place to check in

It is a nice gesture with the welcome drink and onsen but maybe offer some other drinks for people who can't take alcohol.
More sound proofing would be nice.
