Leap on over to Leapin’ Lizard Cottage! Real Escapes Properties is pleased to offer this charming and comfortably furnished beach cottage on a quiet street on the south end of St. Simons Island. Leapin’ Lizard Cottage features a large covered outdoor seating area, fenced back yard and is located just a few blocks from the beach. Located all on one level, this cottage has a master suite with a queen bed and combination shower. One of the guest rooms has a queen bed; the third bedroom has a full-sized bed and an extra futon. There is a second full bath with a tub/shower combination. Enjoy the whimsical décor throughout - especially in the updated kitchen and dining area! You will definitely be feeling on "Island Time." The home is dog friendly and has a fenced in back yard. *Please pick up after your pet in the yard* In the evet you do not clean up after your pet you will be assessed an additional clean up fee. NOTE: There is a minimum 3 night stay required for this property. NOTE: The fireplace is for decoration only. CHECK IN: 4:00 pm CHECK OUT: 10:00 am • Any group gatherings and events at this property are limited to the number of occupants (8 persons). • Dogs are allowed for an additional non-refundable pet fee. • Parking is available for 2 vehicles. • Just over 1 mile to Coast Guard Station Public Beach Access, ¼ miles to Pier Village Minimum age to rent is 25. This applies to all guests with the exception of multi-generational families. What to Expect in your Unit: • There is 1 TV and DVD player located in this property. • Linens (Bath towels & bed sheets) are provided along with a Starter Supply of Toilet Paper, Soap, Paper Towels and Trash Bag. Any additional supplies needed during tenancy will be the responsibility of the guest. The location is great. Walking distance to the beach was perfect. The backyard area was quiet and a nice place to relax.
I’d stay here again IF they installed a working outdoor water hose/shower (preferably in the front of the house). Unfortunately, we were unable to keep sand out of the house without one. There is an old hose and shower out back but it was not functioning. I did not receive any follow up when I reached out to the management company regarding this being broken. But I would not stay in this property again without a working outdoor hose area to wash off before entering the house.

First, loved the location, close to beach and dining. Good parking areas. Some suggestions to improve the stay:1- Make available outside running water, reduces the sand tracked inside, in tubs and a courtesy for renters to wash beach items after use.2- Only one TV in cottage, not even a HD TV. Most rentals have a TV in all bedrooms, not here.3- HVAC filters should be changed regularly, the return was full of dust! Didn't appear to have been changed in months!4- Every receptacle in bedrooms was loose, plug-ins always fell-out.5-Hallway shower couldn't be set to comfortable level, would go from hot to cold while in.6-Would be nice if den furniture was upgraded. Needs a true sofa, a lounger is not a sofa.7-Do away with the make-shift head and foot boards, current ones rocked every time you got in or out of bed.8- Update vanities in both baths.9- Didn't appear lawn service ever weeds the backyard areas, nice patio/deck, but weeds and poison ivy was abundant in both front and back.Sorry to be a "downer", having rented homes on SSI for the last 12 summers, most cottages have been updated to stay up with the competition. I feel the owner needs to hear these comments and know what renters expect and what needs improvements. I was planning to get your email when we stopped on Saturday, but you were not open. Please pass these comments on to the owners. However, you don't need to place this on your website review.

We were only in Saint Simons for 3 nights, but we really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't get to use the kitchen much but it looked to have had anything you could need to cook in the house. The couches and beds were comfortable. The back patio was beautiful. We were able to walk to Mallery St and many restaurants. I definitely recommend the Leapin Lizard Cottage!

Our family loved our stay at Leapin' Lizards. It was the perfect size home for two families with little ones to stay in. We were a very short walk from the beach. The house had all the space and amenities needed. Wouldn't have changed a thing!

We had a fabulous SSI stay at the Leapin' Lizards Cottage. Plenty of parking for our large SUV, my parent's cars when they visited and our golf cart. Beds were very comfortable and we easily slept 2 adults, 3 teens and the baby in the bed rooms. My favorite feature was an extremely well-stocked kitchen! The kids were so excited for the waffle maker, we had to make a trip to Harris Teater the day we arrived to stock up. We loved the outdoor space, great patio furniture and we appreciated being able to use the charcoal grill a few nights. The full size washer and dryer were also well used. We will be booking again for next year! A great neighborhood with friendly residence, walking dogs, waving hi! Easy to get to all the island's key sites. We would highly recommend.

Beautiful place in a lovely location.What we were NOT told was that there would bemajor construction next door (to the right of the property in the picture) within arm's reach and precluding any vacation sleeping whatsoever. We submit that this is NOT a situation of caveat emptor, and that Real Escapes had an obligation to forewarn clientsof this disturbing disruption to a long-awaited vacation. And offer a discount.

Lovely home well appointed with a St Simons Island comfort feel. Everything you would need for the stay on the island. We enjoyed the covered back deck and trees. Home was very spacious. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. There were a few specifics, however, which were unusual. First, I understand that we were the first to stay since a renovation, but the house was dusty with several spiders on arrival(how long since someone was inside?). Second, I understand it is a vacation rental, but the lack of essentially basic channels (no CNN, no ESPN) was frustrating. There is internet access, but it was nearly impossoble to decipher the access code, caps sensitive but not at all what is on the form. Light on the back deck MUST be replaced, it arcs very loudly and flickers on and off, mostly off.

The house was spacious and was comfortable for us. Loved the outside deck. Enjoyed sitting and having evening cocktails on the back deck. Could have been cleaner, dusty, and floors cleaned. Noted black (mold or mildew) on ceiling of left bedroom over hanging rack. Noted black on ceiling exhaust fan in bathroom to right. Lawn looked as if it had not been cared for in several months...weeds and overgrown, front and back. Would recommend and would lease again if ‘spruced’ up.We did have a great time and very pleased with all the care and concern RealEscapes had in finding us a place after Irma flooded our original lease.

This year started bad with faulty AC that had to be replaced. One whole day gone. The bathrooms need To be updated badly The toilets and showers barely work. Seems I had to be constantly calling the nice people at Real Escapes. I don't like to be put in the position of complaining. Need to close this one down and refurnished with comfortable beds,, sofa and chairs. For almost $2800 for a month I expect to be comfortable and not be put in the position of complaining. We left early when the shower faucet came off in my hand. Next year Real Escapes will find me a more comfortable, well maintained house.

The Leapin Lizard is the perfect setup for us. It's convenient, tastefully decorated, outstanding outdoor living, great neighbors, suitable for our pups, and reasonably priced. The only improvement I can think of would be to include a king sized bed. This will be our "go to rental" for future trips.

If you are in need of a pet friendly rental that is just around the corner from the beach, look no further than Leapin' Lizard Cottage. The backyard deck and patio were ideal for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and grilling out later in the evening. The dogs even felt like they were on vacation too! The cottage is a few blocks away from the beach. It is wonderful to be able to go for a walk anytime you like. We walked our dog there several times a day. The cottage is also walking distance to the pier area. The weather was good, some cold days, but even at 50 degrees with the sun and no wind it was great. Would recommend the island and the cottage for a wonderful vacation.

We had a fantastic time at the Leapin Lizard Cottage. House was perfect for family of four, the outdoor living space was really great. We walked or road bikes just about everywhere, so the location is great for us too. We even met the neighbors, who were great. Couple negatives if I'm being picky....The construction at 7am next door every morning was really not good. Vacation = Sleep and we didn't get much with hammers, saws, and people outside two bedrooms. The back door knob came off but there were no tools anywhere to fix. I did the best I could, but probably needs to be looked at soon. The lock on the fence probably needs to be fixed soon too, as it was often difficult to close. Only one suggestion of enclosing the outdoor shower, as we loved it and would use more if enclosed.

The walls have dirt and smudges everywhere, the furniture is from the 1980's, the living rm carpet was so old and stained we wouldn't walk on it. We also found cigarettes, condoms, soup containers and trash in the bedside table where our children were sleeping. Who eats soup in the bed! Do not waste your money and vacation on this house.

A wonderful cottage to vacation with or without pets. The location had wonderful, convenient access to beaches, restaurants and the village. The cottage was roomy and kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. The back deck was such a bonus with plenty of comfy seating and a nice table & chairs if you enjoy outdoor dining & a grill to boot. The fenced backyard was perfect if you bring your pet. Only a couple things to note, could not figure out how to get the TV operational, and there were no instructions to be found. We were very busy while there, so we only tried to use it late at night and did not reach out for help with that. The floors, especially the bedroom throw rug, had quite a layer of sand when we arrived. Also a good bit of dog fur remained on some of the seating. Overall, it was the perfect spot for our stay and we would definitely want to stay there again!!

Loved the cottage!
Interior was updated , very clean and comfortable. Only reason did not give 5 stars was the back yard area. The outdoor furniture and landscape could use a refresh. Used the space often since we carried our dog. Enjoyable walk to the beach did not have to drive. People are so friendly in the neighborhood.

We had a very enjoyable experience at the Leapin Lizard. The house was ideal for three couples plus a dog. We enjoyed the back patio and the house was spacious and very functional. In addition the location worked well, it was only a short walk to the beach which was ideal for daily dog walks. The neighborhood was nice and quiet with many other dog owners in the area. Overall this house helped make for a wonderful family reunion. Our only issue was that the second bathroom toilet didn't flush well. The property manager quickly responded and resolved the problem.

The back porch sitting was fabulous - perfect weather to enjoy the shade of the back while reading a book. Sasha our dog loved sitting out there with us too. The house and neighborhood are great! We loved it.
