About this lodge
The Lodge and the Cabin are the guest quarters for the historic Rio Ynez Ranch, an 85-acre horse ranch in Santa Ynez. Previously, these two houses were only available to guests of the owner, including many storied personalities. Now you can share in the total privacy--- while only 5 minutes from downtown Santa Ynez, 10 to Los Olivos. Stroll 100 paces and sit at the edge of the Santa Ynez River and listen to the landscape of birdsong. Sit on the sprawling deck with a glass of local wine and ponder the uninterrupted panorama of mountains. You won’t see a sign of civilization during your stay. Furnished with a mixture of antiques and rare rustic furniture. The Lodge was redone recently: new paint, floors, marble kitchen counters, new French doors; the deck has been extended and a beautiful new outdoor fireplace and seating area have been built. The kitchen in the Lodge is fully equipped for you to cook a fine meal, and there is a fine outdoor gas grill, but the restaurants of Santa Ynez are only moments away, wineries too numerous to mention. The Lodge has one King Bedroom, Two Queen Bedrooms and Two Full Baths. The Cabin has One King Bed and one Full Bathroom.
NOTES:
The maximum number of guests allowed is 8. We do not hold events on the ranch. PLEASE SEND NO INQUIRIES ABOUT WEDDINGS.
Please do not request to book dates where your arrival or departure are the same day as an existing reservation. We like to leave at least 24 hours between stays for thorough cleaning and disinfecting.
The Cabin is approximately 80 feet from the Lodge. They only rent together.
A new high speed Wifi system has been installed (replacing the sluggish satellite Wifi). Streaming and Zoom from multiple devices are no problem.
There is only one TV and it is in the Master Bedroom
Preference will be given to longer stays.
There is an outdoor fireplace that is GAS ONLY.
There is an outdoor gas grill.
There is an indoor fireplace and firewood is provided.
There is a Keurig coffee maker as well as a filter coffee machine.
Horseback riding is not offered on property. Recommendations can be given for arranging rides in the valley.
Please make sure you take all items with you upon your departure. Items left by guests will not be returned to their owners.

We had a great time at "the ranch," as my family is now calling it! The kids loved seeing all of the animals - including horses! The porch and outdoor fireplace were the perfect place for us to spend the evenings together and absolutely the highlight of the property.

We had nothing short of a majestic stay at this property. Both the lodge and cabin provided clean and exceptional lodging. The 63 acres , the horses and the River - only added to our enjoyment of the property. But for us city slickers, being woke at the crack of dawn by the birds and the howls of the coyotes were the real highlights of the trip. Would highly recommend visiting this property!Chris

Perfect place for a group of 50 something high school friends and their wives to stay! Plenty of privacy, close to all the action the house had everything that we needed!

Beautiful spot but a bit disappointing. The studio cabin was unusable because there was a strong moldy smell. A lot of details were overlooked, especially in terms of cleanliness. There were dirty dishes in the cabinets, hairs in the bathtub, etc. There was a closet door that didn’t work, lots of dings in walls. The host never responded to five attempts to communicate via voice mail, email, and text. Nonetheless, the setting is really unique. It’s gorgeous, very private and quiet. The view out the living room window is lovely.
