About this house rental
Nestled in Takitumu District, this attractive house for $111 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Perfect for couples or a family intent on snorkeling and swimming their vacation away. The lagoon in this area is also a protected reserve, so tropical fish are in abundance. For those attending weddings in Titikaveka Lya’s is a perfect location and walking distance to the Little Poly and Moana Sands Hotels (and their restaurants). Lya’s offers a welcome respite from the great outdoors with a covered verandah and comfy high ceilinged living area with a modern kitchen. Both bedrooms have queen size beds (one can be split into two singles).There is also a queen size bed in the living room so extras beyond the usual 4 people are able to stay.Pedestal fans in every room will keep you cool in the balmy evenings and the fully screened home will ensure the mozzies don’t join you on vacation. If the weather’s not great, you can spend time at the Maire Nui gardens a great spot to catch up on all things plant like and tropical (there’s a cafe there as well). Once ensconced, there will be little reason to leave the area, it has everything a home on a tropical island should have. The beach and lagoon in the area are particularly good with white sandy beaches, and a deep blue lagoon for swimming and snorkeling at low and high tides. Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only There is wifi at the house, in order to activated it you need to buy a wifi card from any shop showing the telecom “e” sign, or buy a “data pack” online using a credit card. Exactly what I expected from the info I was given. Location was good, literally 3 mins off the beach, 1 min over the road to Charlies bar. Good value for money - I would recommend it.

The actual house and location are good.
The chattel's need attention. The crockery is old and stained, the curtains are old and ripped, the mop and brush for daily cleaning are disgusting.
We felt for very little outlay financially the whole ambiance of the house and contents could be dramatically improved.

Prob need scooter to get around. Wasn’t impressived with rats, cockroaches and gekkos inside house. No hot water.

Lovely bach - a stones throw away from beach and beer :-)
Property was great. It was clean, spacious (we had a bedroom each). Nice little touches with flowers, and some essentials in the fridge.
It was a hop, skip and a jump from a gorgeous white sandy beach and turquoise ocean, and a quick walk into "Charlies" - a great bar / restaurant - good food, beer and cocktails.
We didn't go far - but didn't need to - there was a small superette 300m away that had everything you needed. It is about a 20-25 minute walk to Muri beach markets - and food there was also great.

Large property and garden, which was ideal for our two young children. The fans in the bedrooms and nets at the windows helped us cope with the heat and prevent insects coming in. Great location, just opposite the beach. The house is also on the main road so it can be noisy (traffic + dogs/roosters)

Island Luxury on a budget
We loved our stay at Lyas Holiday Home. If you are looking for a place close to the best snorkeling, restaurants, beaches, and historical spots on Rarotonga, look no further. This is not a 5 star Luxury resort, but for a family place it is great value for the price!
Plenty of room for our family of 5, including two teenage girls!
Right across the road from Charlie's meant lots of people around between 6-9 pm, but we felt safe and Charlie's is a great spot for lunch, dinner, and darts! We enjoyed hearing the live island music in the evenings. We also rented a kayak from Charlie's for the week at a great price. It was easy to carry it across the road each morning for a georgeous sunrise paddle on the lagoon!
At Lya's you are just a 7 minute drive to Wigmores superstore. A 3 min drive or 20 min walk to Muri beach and the night market. And some of the best snorkeling in the island is right across the road.
Eddie was very helpful with all our inquiries and a genuinely nice guy! He even brought us fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to apologize when our check-in got a little complicated due to other tourists moving into the wrong Bach.
We would stay again for sure!

Family of 3, we enjoyed our stay, good to have full cooking facilities, fridge/freezer, we took our own food. Washing machine was amazing, the mosquito screens outside windows are brilliant, you can leave the windows open and nothing flies in, Fans in rooms are excellent, location to beach was good, Charlies bar and restaurant was handy across the road and quite affordable, the bar usually closes around 8-9pm. Make sure when you go through Customs on arrival, that you have the property managers full name and contact number, we did get held up for a bit on arrival, as we only had the email address correspondence on hand, with only the first name, something we didn't even think about! lol. ...apart from that excellent time!! love the snorkelling!!

Relaxing holiday spot
House was well appointed and we appreciated the fruit, milk and fruit juice on arrival. Great to have a big fridge and ample towels etc! Prompt service to resolve initial hot water problems. Good off street parking and handy to swimming and beach as well as Charlies restaurant just over the road.

Property perfect for our stay. Weather unseasonably cold so requested blankets which arrived promptly. Shower temperature varied but mainly ran hot but sometime went cold without warning but overall would stay there again.

Excellent location
We were a party of 5 who were able to fully take advantage of the house. There is ample room and we spent most of our time outside on the porch. The house had towels for use (which was a great advantage for us not to have to carry them with us from the US). It is located directly across the street from a great beach, and from Charlie's restaurant. We ate there most nights. It is less than a quarter mile from a small grocery store where you can get most of your needs and the bus runs right in front of the house. The owners were very responsive to emails prior to the trip. There are only two small constructive criticisms. One, we asked if there were specific items prior to travel that would be needed such as cooking oil, salt/pepper. We were told those items would be there but they weren't. There were no napkins or extra garbage bags so we bought them ourselves. Two, we paid for a late check out and transportation to the airport. All of that was smooth, however, the late check out email said we'd be checking out around "6-ish." So naturally we thought transportation would pick us up at that same time. But the transportation didn't pick us up until 9. We tried to call the transportation guy but he kept hanging up on us. Better communication between the owner, the transportation guy and us could have saved some anxiety. As it was we sat on the porch waiting for the transportation guy for those three hours. Aside from those, I recommend this house, especially if you have a family. It is ample enough in size and is well located. It was convenient to have a kitchen to cook in and some privacy to relax in.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here with four adults and two young children. There was plenty of room for all of us. The property is on the main road but still very private. Just across the road and along the beach about 100m to the best snorkeling on the island. Excellent cafe/bar across the road too. Only issue we had was the shower which was very inconsistent with the hot water, even after a gas change. Would change between hot and cold frequently which was frustrating. Otherwise great :)

Very comfortable for our family of 4. Linen including beach towels provided. Clean and tidy on arrival. Well equipped including washing machine and internet Very good location. The house is just over the road from Charlie's where you can get the best smoothies on the island and the best snorkelling is on the beach below Charlie's. It is easier to have a hire car (or scooter) when you stay here but you could manage without one. It is quite a long walk to Muri but we did it a couple of times.

Excellent accomodation... Right across the road from Charlie's Cafe - awesome cafe style food, super large portions and reasonably priced! And the beach is right there too! Half hour walk anti-clockwise to Muri Beach and 20 min walk clockwise to our favourite swimming spot of the week at Titikaveka! Great location!

Lya's is the perfect place to relax. Close to Muri but far enough away to have it 'a own quiet piece if beach. Great little house with good options for cooking including a sandwich press. Close to Fruits of Rarotonga which is a great spot for snorkelling. Enjoy!
