About this house rental
Nestled in South Gulf Cove, this lovely house for $163 per night is a great option for your next vacation. This lovely, contemporary, pool home offers expansive views from an oversized tip lot (two intersecting canals) with 160 feet of concrete seawall, a Dock and only 1 bridge out to the Gulf of Mexico, the Myakka River and the Port Charlotte Harbor. Our Third Ray of Sun is located in the Waterfront Boating Community of SOUTH GULF COVE which offers parks, a boat ramp and marinas and is only minutes away from beautiful Southwest Florida Beaches in Boca Grande and Manasota Key . You will love this well cared for 3/2/2 pool home with it's many special features such as split floor plan, formal living and dining rooms, a kitchen with lot's of space, hardwood cabinets and Corian countertops, breakfast area and large pass through to the Lanai. The attached large Great room has a charming electric fireplace and big screened TV. The huge Lanai is at the heart of the home with big sliders leading from the Master, the formal dining, the great room and the third bedroom. The Lanai offers a large solor heated, very warm pool, breakfast bar, large area for dining and entertaining as well as views of the canal. You will feel like you are in a park in your large fenced in back yard that overlooks two intersecting canals. The master suite offers a large slider to the Lanai, a new king size bed, 2 walk in closets and bath with walk in shower and large soaking tub. The second bedroom is across the hall from the second bath and has two twin size beds, two dressers and a walk in closet. The third bedroom has a new king bed, matching dresser, large sliding door to the Lanai and a walk in closet. The home offers new, tasteful and comfortable furnishings for your vacation pleasure.

Came down for holiday get away as the house was perfect for our needs. Weather was chill at night which impacted the pool temperature but we were able to use it a couple days which was perfect for us.

The house was perfect! Its also in a wonderful neighborhood! The only flaw is it does not have high speed wifi so if you have kids on ipads or gamers it will not keep up! Would definitely recommend this house!

Beautiful, spacious home, true to listing. Large, clean, warm pool. Made use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. Enjoyed the view of the canal from both kitchen and lanai. Quiet neighborhood in a nice area of Florida, not crowded when we visited at the end of October. Overall wonderful time at this VRBO.

Make sure you ask as many questions as you can think of because their pictures were Not up to date when we booked. It showed a pool “cage” which had been destroyed by a hurricane at least a year before. This was a weekend away for my wife’s birthday. After a 5 hour drive she ended up having to clean the dirty refrigerator before being able to put our food in it (while I was vacuuming the couch so she could sit on it). The beds were Very comfortable! First impressions are Great sometimes but left a negative mark on us here. Drive up to a “Luxe” house with weeds in cracks of the driveway and other areas of the yard. The “welcoming” front door was very dirty and so on. The management company is just not doing a good job for the owner.

Overall our week stay was great! We were very comfortable in this home as there is great space for a large family. Location is perfect. Anywhere we wanted to go was within a 5 to 20 minute drive. Home is in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. However, disappointed in the cleanliness of the home and patio. It appeared to have been surfaced cleaned and not deep cleaned. For a vacation home, this is unacceptable and did ruin a lot vacay vibes for me. The patio had piles of pool floats and seat cushions at one end. The table and chairs for the dock were tossed in yard and there was a lot of weeds and overgrowth near dock so we didn’t use it like we wanted to. The pool was cloudy during our stay but received maintenance. The back bedroom window would not stay closed (old dated crank windows). We did not contact the owner/property manager and just cleaned ourselves. No cleaning supplies other than 2 dishwasher pods and windex so did pick up some from store down the road. Plenty of towels in the home but stained and mixed matched and the kitchen, though was well stocked, had very old and dated utensils and pots. The fridge’s water and ice dispenser was disgusting so we bought bottled water and ice. The home is dated. Couldn’t open the blinds in the master bedroom. Made me feel like we were staying at a someone’s grandmas house. Hate to leave negative remarks because we did have a great week in Florida at this home but I don’t think I would stay at this home again.

The House in the Sun is everything the ad said it would be. Check in was seem less, the property manager was very attentive and prompt, the beds comfy! The location was perfect and in the garage there were coolers and beach chairs. The pool was beautiful! The noseeums at night were relentless but they didn’t come out until later on. It was peaceful and quiet and felt very safe.

Since the moment we booked our family vacay we counted down the months. We had a great time but the pool cage was GREATLY missed. The reason we booked the house was for the pool and the easy access to fishing. The bugs were terrible and that was after we fogged the yard twice. The boys caught assorted fish and had a great time. Bikes were used almost every night. House was clean. We made great memories on our vacay.

This house was a nice home away from home. Not too far from the beach, restaurants or the grocery store. The only thing that I can complain about is that we were informed that the screen covering for the pool had been down since the hurricane. We got eaten alive by bugs. Not using the pool after dark was not an option for us. We had our kids with us and got a house with a pool just for them. They weren't going to not use the pool during that time. Not a dealbreaker but would of been nice to have the option of cancelling if we wanted to. All that said, this was a great little place for a family vacation.

The house was stocked with enough to get you started and clean. Stores are a short drive away. Walking and biking paths right out the door. Owner and manager answered within minutes if anything was needed. We stayed with my wifes parents and our 3 children. The master has its own bathroom and is on the other side of the house giving some separation for her parents. Pool was warm and ready for the kids to play. Grill and all appliances worked as they should. Great place.

We stayed for two weeks at the Third Ray of Sun. This is our 3rd year staying in this neighborhood, we love SGC. The house is a little older but is in very good shape. The cage over the pool was lost in Hurricane Ian and has not been replaced yet, but we understand why and that was not an issue. We had great communication with the owner and with the property manager. We had a few times we need to reach out to the property manager and she was very quick to respond. We used the bikes that were provided almost everyday.
We spent many days on the beach, there are many beaches close by. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked a stay again for 2 weeks next year.

We stayed in South Gulf Cove for a week and I wish it would have been longer. The house was everything we needed and more! It was so easy to check in and out and the property manager was very helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend this house for anyone wanting a comfortable getaway! We enjoyed our stay at Third Ray of Sun. It’s so peaceful having our morning coffee, watching the birds, and seeing the occasional fish jumping across the canal.
We did miss the pool cage, but we were aware it probably wouldn’t be replaced before our visit.
The house was clean and well stocked with towels and incidentals needed upon our arrival.

We had a great week of vacation here. Very clean large home with all amenities. The pool and property was great. Pretty view of the inter coastal canal way. Fished every day but not very successful in catching much. Centrally located to great beaches and golf courses, all within 15 -30 minutes driving. Enjoyed a few bike rides and bikes were provided in garage. Check in was super easy, would highly recommend this property for a family vacation. Very responsive and friendly owners. Enjoyed ourselves very much!

House is roomy, nicely decorated, comfortable and very clean. Great for families as the house was equipped with extras like towels, pool and bikes. However, the pool was very green when we arrived which spoiled the ambiance of the lanai, one of the main reasons we chose this house. We maintain a very large outdoor pool at our home and this could have been corrected prior to our arrival Saturday night. Instead they waited until the (regularly scheduled?) professional pool care on Monday. Thus pool was only clean to look at and to swim the night before we left.
The sink in master bath has no stopper, just a large drain hole. They could have at least provided a rubber stopper. There were no towels in master bath and had to get them from the closet in the other bathroom at the other end of the house, no soap and several light bulbs out in the fixture. There were no extra blankets anywhere in house. It was hard to sleep for us who are used to comforters. We ended up buying one. Master bath shower floor was very slippery and could use a non-slip mat.
The lighting in the NE living room was a bit dim with a burned out bulb. The kitchen also had burned out florescent bulb. Paying attention to details makes a difference. Overall I was disappointed with our stay.

The house was nice. The pool was nice just wish the filter would have worked a little more or stronger. The water got cloudy towards the end of our stay.
I didn’t realize how far away we would be from stores and restaurants. If you are looking to just stay and cook then this is a good house. With teenagers there wasn’t enough to do at the house.

Stayed for 1 week at this home. Location was about 15 mins from Wal-Mart but there are closer grocery store options. Lots of restaurants and gas stations within a 10 minute drive. Stayed in June and most places closed by 9pm so plan ahead. Check-in process was so easy, used a keypad for entry and it was very convenient. The pool was always hot- 86 degrees. Mosquitos were rampant and will swarm the vehicle as soon as you open the doors, literally unavoidable but very irritating when getting groceries. Loved the end of the block location, it was very quiet, no issues. The water pressure was such a nuisance. Although there are 2 bathrooms, you can only use 1 shower at a time (or run the hose for the pool) which was not mentioned in the listing for the house. None of the sinks will run water sufficiently while anything else is on. Since we had 6 people including kids, this really delayed our day. The hot tub took an extensive amount of time to try to fill because of the water pressure being so low so it was not worth the trouble. The main shower water just trickled out. We did not try to call the property manager, until day 5 of our stay when the shower head actually stopped working in the main bathroom. This left us with 1 shower for 6 people. This was a big deal because we go swimming daily and we all shower after swimming. I left a voicemail since the property manager did not answer. I did not want to bother the owners for this issue because I thought the property manager would call back. We never received a call back. 2 days later, I called the property manager and spoke with Laurie, she said she never received my call or my message. I asked for a late check out since check out time is early (10am) and all 6 of us needed to shower with 1 shower before getting on the road for 20 hours. Laurie said she could only give us 30 extra minutes. It was disappointing. The communication was non-existent and I wish I would have followed my instincts and called the owners when we first had the issues, instead of allowing the property manager to call back (or not) on her own accord. The house itself was pretty clean except for the food on the couches when we arrived, the mildew in the showers, and the thick dust everywhere. It just needs a deep cleaning. Must buy your own toilet paper, soap, etc but to be expected. Property outdated, not contemporary as listed but we truly enjoyed our time there and other than the few issues, we absolutely enjoyed the area.
