Don't stay here

The location was terrible with no parking close to the hotel

How many words can I use? 1. Advertised as having breakfast & a restaurant. Neither!!! 2. The beds "coil spring mattress" was the worst bed I've ever slept on. 3. The room was dirty, headboard had 1/8" of dust 4. While realizing this was an old hotel I could make allowances for its age, however, slopping creaking floors & loose floorboards is not acceptable 5. Hot water....admit the hotel "handbook" did warn of a delay in the hot water, but 7 minutes to wait for warm water & not with any pressure. 6. Shaving light not working 7. No grill on the sink plug-hole..could have lost my complete contact lens case down the drain

Awful.

No breakfast. Disco until12.30am , bar extension until 1am -not told of disco and bar extension until I arrived. Checked out on at 9 am on Sunday -did nor stay for second night- but paid for two nights- no refund offered.

There was no plug in the wash basin in the bathroom. The room wasn't serviced during our stay There was no chef so no food!

Very poor value for the price paid.

On booking we were told breakfast would be available. On booking in we were told they didn’t do breakfast or any meals at the hotel due to staff shortages. They were still offering bookings for the week stating they did continental or full English breakfasts.

Having been sent a terms and conditions email 2 weeks before arrival laying out that there should be no late night parties or drugs in the room. Which I find strange to be informed of unless they have had problems with these issues in the past. The excessive noise from the bar below past the stated opening hours was disturbing. The fact that no breakfast was available and they couldn’t let me before arrival was sad especially as they could send a message out laying the comprehensive terms and conditions.

Very overpriced for poor accommodation with minimal facilities

There was no provision for breakfast

One would certainly expect breakfast. The room cleaning and bed making only on request!! No shaver socket but the hotel folder offered adapter on request but on asking no adapter available.

Good

Friendly staff and nice room. Bar warm and friendly.

During the last night of our stay we had retired to bed, (approx 10.30). Soon after loud music woke us up from a downstairs function room and continued to the early hours. There was no mention that this would occur from any of the staff earlier in the day or evening. When we were leaving the next morning, we were both very tired from our disturbed sleep. Unfortunately there were no staff around to discuss this with. It Unfortunately spoiled what would have been a lovely stay.

Terrable - walked out due to bad service

The price is reasonable but that is about as far as the positives can stretch.

Terrible experience, upon entry the receptionist and a group of staff were drinking outside in full public view while on shift. When trying to be booked in and shown my room the receptionist was completely paralytic and unable to hold a conversation. The hotel clearly has absolutely no professional standard or pride in promoting their hospitality. Once reaching my room it was clear the night would not be tranquil. Admittedly the football was on and the noise reverberated throughout the hotel, however I waited this out to when the game had finished as this was expected but the noise was relentless. I requested a room change to try to minimise the noise and disturbances but any attempt to try to communicate this to the staff was met with drunken shrieks and no effort to resort a paying customers wishes. I left and found alternative accommodation and certainly will not be staying again. Please do not stay here- you will not get a good nights sleep and will be kept up from the unprofessional standards to which the hotel seems to promote.

It's on the up!

Friendly helpful staff, room simple but comfortable

Unfortunately, the business had a new manager who had only taken on the business a few weeks before our visit, and was upgrading and making changes. In saying that he was helpful and put a few small things that were wrong right, very quickly.

I would definitely recommend The Star Inn 4 value 4 money

I didn't book breakfast as wanted an early start, staff very friendly

Only slight downside was parking, had to go down a side street as town was so full

Nice weekend at a pleasant location near the river

Great location near the river, local bars and restaurants. Room was clean and tidy. Other reviews said it would be noisy but it was very quiet and we had no problems at all.

unpretentious, clean, comfortable, brilliant location and amazing value for money. completely hassle free stay, will stay again. met the owner who was a very nice chap and runs a good business clearly. A warm and welcoming bar downstairs too.
