Nähe zum Alishan Nationalpark. Wenige aber kostenlose Parkplätze vor der Unterkunft. Sehr nette Besitzerin, welche uns Tipps für Alishan gegeben hat. Späte Ankunft war kein Problem. Alles sauber. Kleines Wohnzimmer zur gemeinsamen Nutzung mit anderen Touristen. Kostenloser Wasserspender. Große gemeinsame Terrasse.
In der Nähe der Unterkunft gibt es NICHTS. Supermarkt und Restaurants sind nur im nächsten Ort, welcher nur mit Auto zu erreichen ist (Besitzerin hat uns bei der Buchung netterweise darauf hingewiesen).

We stayed here just for one night before going into the Alishan proper and to the Fenqihu afterwards - that was my fault making arrangements last minute with many places booked out and with limited availability making a more logical itinerary challenging. Although this involved fair a bit of back tracking and catching the same buses backwards and forwards (also because of the typhoon when all the trains were suspended for two days and sadly we missed out on our prebooked train rides from Alishan to Fenqihu and from Fenqihu to Chiayi), in the end it worked out beautifully for us.
We arrived to Suwana in the afternoon, coming on a bus from the Sun Moon Lake, and had just enough time to do the hike across various nearby trails (The Mist Trail, Tea Trail, Cloud Trail, Sakura Trail etc.). We also happened to stumble across a local place serving dinner to some guests where we were allowed to also have our most delicious dinner and as a bonus got a lift back in the dark to Suwana - this was fantastic.
The Suwana owner / staff were very helpful and our room was OK, even though we found the bed to be quite hard to sleep on. We loved the deck area and the mountain view.
I didn't realise that this place was right on the main road with a lot of traffic and the traffic noise for me spoiled a bit the enjoyment of otherwise beautiful view from the deck area.
I was also worried about being able to catch a bus to the Alishan Forest Area first thing in the morning but we were lucky that although the bus was full, the bus driver stopped for us and let us get on and sit on the bus steps - I was so happy about that, given that people in Taiwan seem to love their rules about everything and I was worried that they would not let us get on with no seats. I don't think they would let many other people get on though so it could be risky and as the buses are not very frequent and we wanted to have an early start, next time I would probably not risk it staying here with no transport of my own. Luckily, we were able to have a full day (plus part of the next day) in the Alishan Forest area which worked really well, as we were able to do everything I wanted to do there (including the Mianyue walk which would be difficult to do in a limited time in the afternoon on our arrival or only in the morning the next day. We were also able to do everything I wanted to do in Fenhiqu where we stayed overnight which was great).
