We chose Hotel Hulaton Fukuoka Hakata mainly for its location right next to the train station, which was definitely its biggest advantage and made getting around very convenient. The room had everything we needed, and although it was small, it was functional and comfortable enough for a short stay. We also had a very positive experience with one of the staff members during check-in after 17:00: she greeted us with a warm smile and was very kind, which we really appreciated.
Considering the price we paid, we expected much more. The bathroom felt a bit dated, and the ventilation was an issue: you had to keep the door closed while showering to avoid triggering the fire alarm due to steam, which made it uncomfortably hot. The biggest downside, however, was the service. When we arrived at 12:00, we knew check-in wouldn’t start until 17:00 (which is already quite late), but we expected to be able to store our luggage. There was no one at the front desk, only a sign asking us to call. When we did, the person on the phone said nothing and hung up. After calling again, a staff member arrived about five minutes later, visibly annoyed, and kept repeating in broken English that check-in was at 17:00. Only after we pointed to other stored luggage did she reluctantly allow us to leave ours. At checkout, the situation was similar. There is a letter box where you can drop your key if there are no additional charges, but we wanted to confirm everything was settled. The same staff member from our arrival was nearby, folding towels in what seemed to be the smoking room (without actually smoking), which felt odd. When we asked her, she appeared annoyed and simply pointed to the letter box and the sign explaining the process. While we understand the system, not having someone properly available at the front desk felt strange. Overall, the hotel is okay and very convenient due to its proximity to the station, but don’t expect much beyond that—especially considering the price.

Was adjacent to a bustling part of the city that sparkled with nightlife but wasn’t noisy. A beautiful spot with easy access to nearby train station and ample eateries. Free tea and coffee on the lobby floor, and a single microwave available there too.
The rooms are very, very small. It’s probably on me for not checking room size more carefully but it also felt that the layout didn’t capitalise on the space available. Lots of appliances that needed moving out of the way to function daily. Very late check in was also a bit of a surprise, but again, my own lack of attention to detail. Be prepared to be asked to pay additional accommodation taxes on arrival.

the twin rooms are located on the ground floor next to the front desk, the smoking room, the launderette and the coffee area. each time someone opens the door we can hear it in the room. the property should have indicated that twin rooms are available only on ground floor so that guests can make an informed choice if they want the rooms. guests have to put towels and rubbish outside the room. clean towels are also left at the door by housekeeping. I think this is very unhygienic especially when the rooms are on the ground floor with heavy traffic. the property also allow 1 day of housekeeping when we stayed for 5 nights. why. lastly the front desk was totally unhelpful with getting us at a taxi to the airport. they refused to help us get a cab and told us to go out to the main road to hail one at 6am in the morning. they were not able to explain why they can’t help us. We guessed that maybe because they start work later than 6am but could have explain so we can understand.
