It was my sister and I that stayed at the cottage for a week at the end of September. The cottage was small and cozy, which is what we like. We had a beautiful week of great weather and we loved the fact that the cottage was on a wetland. We like to swim if we can, but we enjoyed the water fowl very much. Geese and ducks and even herons. It was a very pretty spot. We arrived a little early and the owner was still there and it was very nice to meet her. A great stay all around. Judy.

This was our first experience of renting a cottage. An awesome experience and has certainly set the bar high for any other future choices! The kitchen was a huge surprise to make some great meals. Such a warm and inviting property. Great memories for sure!!!

What a cosy, comfortable place! We enjoyed the lake, the cottage, and the surrounding area to explore. The cottage is a real "home away from home". Details in the cottage give the impression of someone taking the time and thought to make you feel 'at home'. Thank you for a wonderful place! We hope to be back! Thank you Liz and Jane!

We loved our stay! The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for our trip away. Morning visits from the hummingbirds and the evening visits from the bats were really cool to see. If you're planning on doing any real fishing you’ll want to bring your own boat however, although my 3yr old daughter did reel in her first fish! Ask about the shared swimming spot too. I found that info out from the neighbor but not until our last night. Great spot to get away

We had a lovely time and the cabin has everything that one needs. The only thing we missed were some fishing rods. But besides that we enjoyed sitting on the dock, canoeing , sitting around the camp fire and being surrounded by nature. Thank you for this amazing experience, Jane and Elizabeth.

This quaint property on Rideau Lake was the perfect choice for our 20 year anniversary getaway. My husband is an avid fisherman and the lake was more than accomodating. It's not a swimming area but there are close beaches for a dip in the water. Friendly locals, fun close shopping, great Poutine - a memorable stay, made even better by the hosts who gifted us with wine and cheese at our arrival. Excellent value with the private yard, deck, and lake access. And our lab was welcome too!

Everything was so easy from finding this getaway on the water to walking in the door of the cottage . Lots of windows to let the sunshine in. Beds were so comfy. The lake was wonderful to sit by in the early morning with a cup of coffee or at sundown with a wine.

We were so very impressed by everything, from the cleanliness of the cottage, to its location! It was so peaceful and we loved the choices of seating, as we had different views depending on where we positioned the chairs. (Water, deck, backyard). We will definitely be back next year!

This was our second summer at this little cabin and it was as lovely as before. The property is clean, well maintained, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook great meals. There are games and videos. Internet reception is hit and miss but fine for important phone calls. The host family are wonderful and are easily contacted. It can be buggy at night but there might also be a spectacular firefly show too. We will be back.

Amazing! Beautiful spot! Relaxing! Adventures!
Cottage is adorable, clean, well kept, better than the pictures!
Gorgeous forest walks! Enjoyed the fishing, we brought our own raft, kids loved going out for the afternoon (life jackets available at cottage thankfully, we forgot our own)
Enjoyed our morning coffee with the company of Bluejays, cardinals, hummingbirds, hawk loons...many more !!
Campfires were a big hit !
Hope to visit again soon!

The property was as described; cozy cabin, 2 docks (not great for swimming), deck and yard were nice. Overall it was a great experience. Downside was unannounced visits by owners due to the property being the only land access to their island cottage. Upon booking, tenants should be made aware that landlord may access dock during their stay and subsequently notified of when. Liz was very responsive to our requests and we hope to rent again.

Quiet cottage within short distance to Westport.
Everything you needed was available and we were pleasantly greeted with a fresh bouquet of peonies from the garden. Jane and Elizabeth helped us sort out our technology issues upon arrival and were very kind and patient until all was well. We loved sitting on the dock and fishing during the day to pass the time and relax. Nice way to start the summer!

We stayed here for 4 nights ,5days.The cabin was beautiful.Very clean and very cozy. The location was gorgeous.Everything was in great condition, the bathroom and kitchen were very well stocked. We met Glenn and Harold the dog but didnt meet the owner. It was very peaceful and serene. We had one cold night but didnt utilize the wood stove or fire pit.Baseboard heating warmed things up very quickly.Small amount of noise from the highway but the surroundings made up for it.Lots of books to read and games to play as well as dvds.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return in the future.Lots of things in the area to do.Shopping at Newboro and Westport as well as several locks,Jones falls and cheese factories. It was an awesome time.Thank you.

Just the place for a quiet getaway in nature. Really large private yard with firepit and bug tent, as well as large patio. Great for adult getaway or with kids. Beautiful walk in tall trees on the road that the cottage is on, and tons of things to see nearby (don't miss Jones falls). My wife espdcially liked the fully equiped full kitchen. Did not get out on the watercraft but dock and lake are beautiful. As others mentioned, like most Canadian Shield lakes, the botton is silty and not sand, but there is a small beach in mearby Portland. Also basic food shopping abd LCBO there. Satellite TV, DVD player and CD boom box if you get rain like we did. Would definately book there again.

We actually packed too much stuff! This charmingly cute cottage has everything you need! Beautiful water access, fire pit, firewood included, bbq, board games & cards, books..... comfy beds....
I also caught the biggest bass of my career on this awesome lake=)
As others have noted, you can't swim right off the dock, but we didnt really miss it since there's so much else to do; like excursions into portland and westport. Plus the water in sept was a little chilly;)

Wonderful experience
The cottage is a charming place like no other we have rented.
There is an impressive collection of cookware and all other essential things for a comfortable stay. It is surrounded by mature trees and it feels very private.
Though swimming from the deck is not possible there is a canoe to get to a swimming place and there is a public beach in Portland.
We went hiking to Rock Dunder Trail and took a swim in one of the secluded and warm lakes along the trail.
We are going to rent Mooreheaven the next summer !
Thank you Jane and Elizabeth!
