We loved staying at this cabin. It was very clean, comfortable, private and in a beautiful location on a small lake. There was plenty of room for our party of 3. We had hoped to use the kayaks but ran out of time. If we return to the area we will definitely try to stay here again.

Peace and quiet!!

Well off "beaten path", which gives it peace and quiet. Even so, Tahquamenon Falls, Grand Marais, Seney Wildlife Reserve, and Toonerville Trolley are all withing an hour's drive. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We felt though that Kleenex and shower soap would have been welcome. I would note that, with only one bathroom, the cabin was just right for us, but filling out the sleeping capacity of up to 9 people could be problematic.

The Woodford provided a great home during our first trip to the upper peninsula. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend the property.

This cabin has strengths and areas that we think need improvement.
Strengths: Near a small pond, well stocked kitchen, very clean and tidy, Pleanty of room for parking and assorted games inside.
Weaknesses: Beds in the two main floor bedrooms are full size. We ended up sleeping in separate rooms because the beds are so small. There is no AC, which I can understand because it typically doesn't get very warm in the summer. It did for us - mid to upper 80's which led to a high temp in the cabin of 79F. Not totally unbearable, but also absolutely not comfortable. There are fans available but only helped a little. Being a cabin owner and renter ourselves, we give guests discounts when the AC is non-functional and things become uncomfortable. I think the owner in this case should have offered some type of discount. The worst part were the mosquitoes. There were literally 150-200 perched on my bedroom window first thing in the morning. They were everywhere. We had to run from the cabin to our vehicle to avoid being attacked by them and had about 30 of them in our vehicle after quickly throwing everying in our vehile on departure day. The owner really needs to take some type of action to mitigate them for guests. A treatment or even several bug zappers on the porch and in the driveway would be helpful. You can't enjoy the porch or firepit because there are so many. There's no point in touting the outside of the house if you can't enjoy it because of the mosquitoes.

Overall: We really enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this cabin. I will try to describe some of the things that you can't know by just looking at the photos and reading the descriptions.
Cabin: It was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. There is a large selection of family board games available. The electric outlets were wisely utilized with night lights, USB charging ports and safety devices. Emergency and other helpful information was clearly posted on the refrigerator. The washer and dryer were very modern and nice to have. There were extra blankets under every bed.
Outdoors: If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. No matter where you walk on the property you cannot see another person or building. You can easily spend a few hours hiking on the paths on the property and still not see anyone. The lake is very calm and the kayaks fun to use. There is a shed where the boats are stored that also contains firewood that can be purchased. This was very convenient.
Area: The cabin is only about 10 minutes away from the town of Grand Marais and the entrance to Pictured Rocks. If you want to see the Northern Lights, there is a large viewing area by the beach in Grand Marais. The drive to Munising is about 50 minutes. The direct route takes you through quite a bit of gravel roads on Adam’s Trail. You might find it better to take the longer way on routes 77 and 28 which are paved and only 5 minutes longer.
Owners: The owners are terrific, very helpful and quick to respond. Mitch took the time to answer our questions and provided advice based on what we were planning to do.

The cabin was perfect! Lots of space and great beds. The area is very secluded and the lake is very pretty. It is about 40 minutes from Munising but only 15 minutes from Grand Marais.

The Woodford cabin was even better then we expected. Grand Marais is a beautiful small town and Pictured Rocks is an easy drive. Our best time was the time spent relaxing at the cabin. Wish we could have stayed longer.

This location is a bit off the beaten path, so it gives the privacy you want. Beautiful private lake setting with a huge front porch. The house was immaculate upon arrival with all the amenities you could need while away from home, from extra outlets in the bedrooms for phone/tablet charging, large tv in the living room and cards/board games for the evening. The additional 1/2 bath in the garage was a nice addition as well. My group had a great time and would definitely return!

Our family stayed for 4 days and were disappointed to leave. The teens loved kayaking and fishing on the lake. The location was convenient and quiet so you could relax after a fun filled day! Will try and get back!

Very clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. We used it as our base to go to pictured rocks national seashore. We were there four nights due to our schedules. Would have liked more time to just chill at the cabin as the lake and kayaks were so inviting.

It was nice to get away from the city and relax. We spent our days at Pictured rocks. Mitch’s place had everything we would need to cook. Well-appointed kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. We were there in late July and didn’t need the AC… the fans and open windows were just fine. We were thankful to have missed black flies! The mosquitoes are vicious at sundown so that was our cue to go in for game night!

I loved the solitude of this cabin. It was so beautiful and peaceful to sit on the deck every morning and look out over the lake with a cup of coffee, which I took full advantage of being first up. Perfect location to venture out and see so much the UP has to offer and explore.

Quiet location with beautiful views. Lots of mosquitoes that ruin outdoor time. The house is well maintained and cute. It’s well stocked and communication with owner was excellent. My only complaint was the yard wasn’t mowed before we arrived, so the grass was really pretty high and then someone came to cut it while we were trying to enjoy our family time in the evening after we had been gone all day.

The cabin had everything we needed. We enjoyed hiking to picture rocks and mosquito beach. We are a family of four and there was plenty of space. Reminder to bring mosquito spray in upper peninsula:). Quiet and secluded location. Check in was easy. Thank you so much!
