Cozy Menemsha House
Cozy Menemsha House
This is a small, cozy house right in Menemesha which gives walking access to everything, including the beach and jetty. Clean and nicely decorated. The owners are very nice people and willing to help with your stay.

The experience of staying in this beautiful original cottage in Menemsha was everything I expected, and more. The view is magnificent, as are the sunrises and sunsets, but it's the people that make Menemsha, and the whole island, special. The owner of this cottage, a Vineyard native, was kind and welcoming and there if I needed anything. Her kitchen was perfectly stocked. You could throw a baseball and hit Larsen's Fish Market - where we ordered dinner of steamed lobsters and little necks almost every night. And we fell asleep to the sound of the bells of the Menemsha bouys. I went to write a chapter of a book, but instead I painted on the porch because the inspiration was incredible. I would live in this cottage my whole life, if I could.

This 3 bedroom, 1 bath cottage worked very well for the five of us. It was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. There is a weber propane grill for cooking the daily catch from the three excellent fish stores just a five minute walk away. The sunsets from the covered porch were amazing. The outdoor shower is privately situated. It is not a modern cottage but has appropriate character and felt just right for us. There is a washer/dryer and a clothesline. The little kid friendly beach with lifeguard is an easy five minute walk. Barbara was a great host who lives nearby but never intruded on us. We look forward to returning next summer.

Sunset Cottage is a delightful and charming place to stay. The kitchen is big and a great place to congregate in/cook lobsters! and the most amazing sunsets can be seen from the porch. The outdoor shower is just the most wonderful way to commune with nature, and while all the bedrooms are nice, the master bedroom is just somehow perfect.

Our family has rented the Sunset Camp for at least some portion of every year, since my now-adult children were toddlers. The rooms are large and comfortable and the charmingly rustic interior belies the fact that all conveniences, like washer/dryer, stove, cookware, linens, etc. are available. One feature, common to many homes on the Island, is an outdoor shower, but this one has a view that makes getting out of the shower a total delight. The major feature, however, is the unbeatable location. While situated right in the heart of Menemsha , it’s surrounded on three sides by marsh, making it feel part of a separate world, populated only by egrets , other equally picturesque birds, and, perhaps the occasional deer. As the name implies, the Sunset Camp does have a glorious view of Menemsha’s famous sunsets. It’s always fun to enjoy that view from the porch while crowds on the beach, far in front, are jostling to get parking and beach spots to do so. Guests love to come for dinner on that porch! The owners are and have always been terrific to work with. Barbara and her husband, John are always responsive to the needs of their renters. Barbara goes beyond just addressing complaints and questions; she often solicits suggestions for improvements. I have only qualm about rating this as excellent in every way: I don’t want more competition!
