Hollywood Oasis
Hollywood Oasis
While working in Hollywood for a month I stayed at this location. Deidre was such a gracious host, and the property is classic, beautiful, and well kept. The historical elements of the home makes you feel like you are in a storybook; yet there are enough modern upgrades to make everything convenient. There is good wifi service. It sits in a quiet residential area of the Hollywood hills and even though it is less than a mile away from the hustle bustle of Hollywood Blvd, it feels like you are a hundred miles away, which is nice after a long day. There is a private outdoor porch and a shared yard that boasts extraordinary views of the LA skyline. The hosts made the check in, check out, and staying process seamless. They are very accommodating. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for extended stay lodging in the Hollywood area.

This apartment is well situated about 1/4 mile up Hillcrest off Franklin a block west of Highland. There is a parking spot for one but there is sufficient space for 2 smallish compacts. Entry from the parking is through a door in some disrepair and down a very steep series of many steps that are uneven and should have an accompanying hand rail. It is dangerous to walk down or up with heavy luggage so exercising care is called for. Entry into the apartment is to the left into a large pie shaped room that is light filled with heavy tile flooring and sparsely furnished. The best feature of the apartment is the two large bedrooms off this room to the left and right. The room to the left is the guest room and includes a loft and access to a BR that can be accessed as well from the LR/DR. The MBR is to the right and has an ensuite bath that includes the W/D. There is no closet in the MBR but a wire shelving and hanging unit hidden behind a hanging sheet. The bed is king and very comfortable. Furnishings are an acceptable but minimal hodgepodge and appropriate to the price. The third room off the large pie shaped entry is the LR/DR. This room is large and very modestly furnished. Seating for 8 at the DR table, but for about half that number in the LR. The room is nearly entirely void of natural light. Windows abound to the north east but the apartment is walled in to the south and so the deeper into the apartment one moves the less light it becomes; and the colder it gets requiring heating. There is a nest heating system to regulate temperature smartly, but the forced air vents are few and far between. It is quite warm seated by the vents-- not so much elsewhere. The main weakness of the apartment is the kitchen which is dorm room size. The refrigerator cannot hold more than two day's food. The dishwasher needs to be operated almost daily and does not clean effectively. The micro wave is, well, micro. There are no cabinets and there are instead exposed shelves. The utensils are minimal and cheap; the pans should be thrown out. You can seat 8 but cook for no more than 1.5 people using kitchen equipment that is outdated, some of which is unclean. The apartment offers good privacy but is noisy It's good value but below the norm that we have experienced during our many previous visits to LA. We also had the misfortune of developing a contentious relationship with the owners, but I did not let that affect this accurate description.

This place is simply BEAUTIFUL, EMACULATEY CLEAN & VERY COZY-ELEGANT!!! I cannot say enough about this Gem of a place. We enjoyed every moment spent there.  It was so wonderful to stay in a place with such comfortable accomdations, beautiful views. & good vibes. This fabulous old world place had everything that we needed to prepare and enjoy all our meals.  We had all the conveniences of home and then some.  It is situated so close to Hollywood & Highland with its many restaurants, etc...however,  more enjoyable to us were all the wonderful places to walk through in the neighborhood exposing the beauty of the Hollywood Hills. We look very forward to returning!!

Great property with plenty of space in a location close to the Hollywood experience
Great property with plenty of space in a location close to the Hollywood experience
Lovely period property oozing old world charm in a peaceful location in the Hollywood hills. We will definitely stay there again. Pro’s: 1. Good location close to Hollywood bowl / boulevard and a short drive from Universal studios. 2. Very helpful lady owner who went out of her way to provide answers to all our questions. 3. Decent size property with enough beds for a family of six. 4. Good WiFi and media/tv channels. 5. Property very clean on arrival with plenty of towels provided. Con’s 1. There are some steep steps down to the property entrance which may not be suitable for less able people, especially if carrying things. A handrail could be provided to improve this situation. 2. The walk up the hill from Franklin is difficult but we felt that this was offset by the property’s peaceful location and you could use the car if this was a big issue. Overall a big thumbs up 👍
