Picturesque accommodation with beautiful scenery

For those who love scenery, this is the place for u. Love the beautiful mountains landscapes, staffs are very eager to help and friendly and good food. The outdoor seating will be best during cool season.

It's quite challenging to watch TV programmes in the room as it is supported by wifi cable. WiFi need to be upgraded as it is not strong and unstable, maybe becos of the secluded location. Don't come to Yangshuo if u are into shopping as there is no malls.

Amazing place

The whole place was so peaceful and beautiful. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Also the food at the restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. We had a great time there

Just the bathroom was a bit uncomfortable with not enough space/shelves to store our things.

Overall we found this to be an enchanting and unforgettable place to stay.

The location and the outside appearance of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat almost impossibly beautiful. It is situated a stone’s throw from the Yulong River in a valley that is one of the most magical places I have ever visited. Near-vertical towering karst terrain spires line the valley on either side and tower directly behind the resort itself. The resort provides free bicycles which are better maintained that those that I have found for free in other hotels and there are free helmets and bicycle locks provided. The bike ride up the valley for a mile or so along a wide brick paved path that runs along the banks of the river offers a parade of vertical peaks on either side of the river(there are more extensive bike routes listed online but these involved sharing the road with busy auto and motor scooter traffic and I,for one, did not think the risk of an orthopedic, or head, injury was worth it). The Yulong river valley is lined with small farms and has so many gorgeous plants(from banana trees to rice ready for harvest and local wild flowers), that I chose to walk it several times to appreciate the fine detail one misses when biking. The exterior of the resort itself is very charming with exuberant blooming bougainvillea lining the path and framing the verandas of each room. The interiors and plumbing are somewhat old fashioned but comfortable and clean and the rooms have a small veranda with chairs and a small table looking out onto a stunning bougainvillea-framed view of the river and mountains. The staff were friendly and went out off their way to be helpful. They welcomed us on our first day with a complimentary pot of ginger tea and a little plate of cookies. The ginger tea was so good we went back three times during our stay for a pot of the same tea. The restaurant was cozy and the chinese dishes were good(we did not try their western menu).

I was initially disappointed that the complimentary shuttle rides to town which were described in the listing had been discontinued after the Covid epidemic waned but we found that the Didi commercial ride service was great. Clean modern cars arrived within minutes of being hailed on the app and only cost 2-4 US dollars for a ride to or from town so I would not let the lack of a shuttle service dissuade me at all from staying here.

The staff were amazing and just so thoughtful and kind and helpful. Really useful information such as when we wanted to know about the rafting and the best time to go, they checked live and advised how to get there and the plan. They also planned cycling routes and went above and beyond to make sure we were mosquito free. The rooms and location amazing and the restaurant server both great local and European food. They also gave us a nice early checkin.

A most enjoyable weekend.

Perfect location with an amazing view. The staff is FABULOUS! All of them were very helpful and all of them spoke good English. The food was abundant and tasty. Having lunch on the patio and lounging thereafter is a must-do!

Although the room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was not. It was too small and dated. The A/C did not work properly. The first night was ok, but the second night I had someone come to check it but it never worked. The room was warm throughout the night with the A/C temperature set at 16 degrees.

Beautiful setting but short on facilities

The view from the resort is simply stunning. Lovely place to eat outside. Extensive menu with home made bread. They have a big selection of activities and tours to do in the Yangshuo area.

Our chalet had a balcony right on the water, only problem was that it had absolutely no view because it was completely covered by bamboo. There was no where you could sit inside the chalet and see a view. Also we where there in very hot weather so it was too hot to sit outside most of the time, a pool would have been a life saver. As we were there with young kids there was very little for them to do, no real space to run around (the resort is much smaller than i was expecting) no playground, no pool etc.

Go for the views

This is a lovely place on the river focused on sustainability. It has a rustic feel but excellent views. The food and drink are plentiful.

Breakfast is not included. The dining room was quite cold in the winter. While this place is located close to a lot of the major attractions (light show, Moon Hill, caves, river rafts), it is a ways from downtown and going there and back is inconvenient and pricy if you go often.

Exceptional

Kind and friendly staff willing to help with all requests. Attentive service. Absolutely gorgeous view of the river and right next to the walking trail. Even in winter, the view is stunning. Our room was warm, clean and cozy! We enjoyed the restaurant. It has plenty of vegetarian options that we enjoyed. Try the rice cakes with peanut, dried tofu and vegetables and the eggplant. They are not to be missed.

It would be great if they could offer a non dairy milk option on their menu such as soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk, etc for drinks and coffee. They have an electric brochure of their services and activities. It would be great to have a hard/paper copy in each room to peruse instead of the pdf version. Another small suggestion is to have a water refill station of the glass bottles on each floor to make it easier to refill. :)

Fantastic needed nature getaway!

The location is astonishing, right in the river with amazing Mountain View, super clean and very well equipped hotel, easy access to the city, and can enjoy a nice walk between the mountains, staff were amazingly kind, helpful, and friendly, plus they all spoken perfect English!

Fantastic stay in Yangshuo

Location was excellent. Room was spacious and well decorated. The staff was nice and helpful and the food was good.

Guests are allowed to use their drone which is very unpleasant (noise pollution). Guests are allowed to smoke at the outdoor tables; should not be allowed on property other than dedicated areas.

Excellent location

Excellent location on the river and out of the main town. Nice to be able to take a dip in the river. Nice rooms, well decorated, good food. Loved that they are trying to reduce plastics and waste. Free bikes.

Rear view room backed onto the road so was loud in the day.

Beautiful retreat

Exceptionally helpful staff, beautiful and well maintained property, and great wifi. I had an incredible time at the retreat, the staff helped me set up tours and make the most of my time in Yangshuo. Everyone went above and beyond to create a relaxing atmosphere. I also had work to do and was pleased with their excellent wifi, had no trouble at all with video conferencing. I strongly recommend a stay here and will absolutely go back.

Perfect Place to relax in Yangshuo!

Perfect Location in Yangshuo, just next to the river. Restaurant is amazing, choice between western food (there is an austrian chef) and chinese, both delicious and affordable. Staff is super friendly, english speaking and very helpful with booking trips etc. Every room has nice view to the river and mountains. Totally recommended!

Great location and good food

The location close by the river is excellent. The breakfast is awesome, the Western food good. The staff are very nice and helpful. Their English is quite good.

The Riverview Delux Suite was noisy (bicycles were behind the suite, also the power generator). We heard all the voices outside. It was dark and the furniture was old and old-fashioned. The mattresses are very hard.
