Fabulous bird life and wildlife, equally fabulous staff.

Kurt and his team (Henry, Domingo and Didier) went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. From Henry calling out to Agressivo the Caiman, Domingos guiding on the trails and Didier going the extra mile to show us different birds right through to Kurt’s attention at the end of our stay. Antonello the manager was also great. And the bird life and other wildlife was just stunning.

Nothing off note.

escape to last remote spot and pure nature

perfect location at the jungle. good food as buffet. children are welcome too. reasonable prices considering to be in the middle of nowhere. tours were nice too, can recommend the night walk and caiman tour, haven’t done anything else. free Kanu at the lagoon. access to the lodge is not as difficult than thought. route 205 is fully sealed and last but unsealed but manageable by car.

as it’s a bird paradise, there will be photo tours and the viewing deck will have a lot of tripods and photographers starting to take photos from 5am. didn’t bother us as there is still plenty of room and other spots. we travelled with two small children and no one seemed to be annoyed (yeahhh)

Staff is very friendly, the birdlife less than expected, accomodation average, setting outstanding.

The dinner was quite good but there was very little choice, I had expected more of a buffet but they had only one main and were really only catering to a tour group, not much attention to smaller parties.

Breakfast was not as good as I would have liked, no variety and nothing made to order, omlet was cold and not prepared as I would have liked. Not much choice for individuals.

Great place for photographers! The staff members were extremely helpful and organised different activities for us. We also enjoyed our meals in the lodge - every meal was so delicious.

Needs an overhaul!

if. You are a photographer with a giant lens who does not want to move off the deck thus is your place…orherwise go elsewhere. Good reviews reflect former fame as a birding destination. Food was bland and overpriced. Our room had no cross ventilation and was very hot. Trails were ankle deep mud. A large photo tour hogged all the deck space so we left everyday to visit other losges with better food and trails. Offered tours were more expensive than other lodges.

getting there is a little rough! also, there is no a/c or hot water so no place to cool off when it’s hot.

Amazing location for wildlife

The place is amazing in terms of nature and birding facilities. It has many platforms and trails where tons of animals can be seen comfortably. The rooms are OK and the breakfast is good.

Very friendly staff, majority locally employed workforce, fantastic place for birding, great observation deck, buffet style simple full course meals, tour options, nature trails and lagoons in the property.

Meals are on the expensive side, and there are no other restaurant options nearby.

Remote nature paradise

Loved the remote setting and extensive grounds and trails with variety of habitats - forest, lagoon, open areas excellent for birding, nature viewing and photography. We saw a huge range of birds as well as monkeys, reptiles and even an anteater. The deck area at the restaurant looking out over the lagoon. Canoeing on the lagoon and forest channels. Dinner on both evenings was delicious. Rooms are simple but have all you need. We thought Carlos the bartender/reception guy was excellent. Michael the manager was very good too.

The fact that vehicles including noisy motorbikes come right up to the block of rooms area day and night, a bit disruptive for nature viewing and sleep. Didn’t rate lunch very much. Some staff were pretty pushy about visiting attractions which are on their own properties.

One of the best hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica

The room was very nice and clean. Every room has a hammock. Ours was in front of the garden so we could see the birds. Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Property has a few walking trails where we spotted toucans, monkeys and even a tapir !

They offer a caïman tour which is staff feeding pieces of meat to caïmans that stay on the property while talking to them in German. Experience was a bit weird. The trails are sometimes a bit unkept (some bridges were not in their best shape), but the walks were still nice and lots of animals and birds to spot !

Amazing experience :-)

The quietenes of the place. No maschines only nature sounds. The feeding of the birds at the restaurant made it possible to make photos of many different species. The staff was educated,- knew what they were talking about. Wonderful food at the restaurant. The most quiete fan we have ever had !!

The wifi was bad,- very often You went off line. The road to the place was very bad.

Very nice people, manager (greetings to Adolfo). Beautiful natural garden, laguna, birds, great for photographers and nature lovers, good meal.

I would appreciate some cabinet (or shelves) and refrigirator in the room.

One of the best lodge in the world for birding photography. Very peaceful place for relaxing. Food is really good and all the staff are kind and friendly. Really recommend this place 100%. Hope to see you soon folks
