Bien para una noche

Es un restaurante muy famoso en Kaikoura que encima tiene unas habitaciones. Hay que decir que está algo viejo y va necesitando una reforma. Si os alojáis, mi consejo es que uséis el servicio que queda a la izquierda de la escalera de subida (según subís) ya que está renovado (el de la derecha no lo está). En frente hay una ducha también recién renovada. Las habitaciones son pequeñas pero cumplen su función. Aún así se oye todo lo de al lado (llevad tapones). Respecto al desayuno, es muesli y copos de maíz, leche, yogur azucarado, pan para tostar, mermeladas y melocotón en almíbar. Está todo en una habitación y te lo sirves tú mismo… no esperéis maravillas. Otro punto: el coste es 5NZD más de lo que dice en Booking. Les comenté que en Booking salía otra cosa y les da igual. Las vistas del hostal son chulas y como hay un restaurante puedes comer o tomar una birra mirando el mar y las montañas (tienen una terraza fuera y también un balcón). Además está cerca de la zona de las focas. Es un sitio correcto, algo viejo, pero para una noche sirve (no más).

Very good

Checking in is easy. The restaurant on site made it easy for meals. Room is clean and with a stunning view of the pacific. Continental breakfast has a variety of yogurt and cereals as well as fruits.

The heater in the room is inadequate for the size and shape of the room. We were freezing cold.

Charming spot to watch the Sunrise

The location was AMAZING. Definitely recommend having your breakfast on the Balcony for the sunrise! The beds were comfy and the room was toasty and warm.

It's a little dated sure but it's charming and it's clean!

miserable and very cold sleeping in the car in the carpark

we were promised that keys would be left out as our ferry from wellington was delayed we arrived at 130am and searched - no keys had been left out as promised 4 very cold hours spent sleeping in a car was a miserable start to our holiday

Great comfortable budget friendly Old School NZ Pub Hotel with awesome views.

Had a twin room upstairs at the front of the older Pub Hotel overlooking the wraparound verandah that looked out over the ocean. Great views from the room. Only two rooms in this front position with hallway in between with door that leads onto verandah. Small table and chairs available on the verandah to sit and chill out. Would have preferred the queen room that had its own door leading onto the verandah but unfortunately it was booked. Other rooms down hallway. Room was smallish but had comfortable beds. Heater but no air con. Large window could be opened to let in the sea breeze. Shared bathroom toilet facilities clean and tidy. Has a shared lounge with TV and board games. Tea and coffee available at all times in this room. Also has a self-service continental breakfast included in the price in this lounge area. Very reasonable budget price to stay. Downstairs is a nice upmarket restaurant, bar and garden bar that is popular. Was lucky to get the last table available booked for a meal on a Monday night. Excellent meal options but pricey. Great place to stay for original NZ old school hotel accommodation.

Air con or a fan in the room. Observing a Female staff member viciously throwing a knife at seagulls who invaded her lunch plate when she herself had walked away from the plate.

A nice spot but hotel badly in need on updating

Bar and Restaurant were very nice, modern, busy and good atmosphere with excellent food and service

Upstairs, bedrooms and bathrooms were very shabby and badly in need of renovation and redecorating.

average, not super clean, but good location

beautiful location, about a 5 min drive from Kaikoura township, or the Peninsula Seal Colony carpark. room was large and spacious with ensuite bathroom

opened the left hand cupboard underneath the sink in the room and animal faeces were in there. everything is very dated and extremely worn breakfast is in a seperate room which didn’t look cleaned. when I checked in and went to my room around 3pm in the afternoon there were dishes from that day in the hallway (where you leave them to be cleared after breakfast) and they were still there the next morning. balcony is not private, its a shared balcony that wraps around the building. for the price I wouldn’t stay again. got a spotless room the previous night in hanmer springs for $100 and house was only 2 years old. paid $135 for this.

Amazing views. Rustic Building. Great Price.

Views were amazing. The breakfast lounge was a great idea and a nice spot to have a quick coffee and a slice of toast before hitting the road. Beds were nice and comfy. Everything was nice a clean.

Would be nice to have some way to clean your hands straight away after you have been to the toilet. Maybe some hand sanitizer on the wall in the toilets?

We'll be back!!

this is the second time we have stayed. It is an old pub so has it quirks but we love it here. If you choose room 4, you get the best view and access to the balcony on the 1st level. The room is comfortable, with shared bathroom and breakfast room. Food in the restaurant is superb and very popular.

Most staff were good but there was one that was a little less friendly. Maybe not suited to a hospitality role?

Old but cozy hotel, good food and drinks in downstairs tavern/bar, Polite and friendly staff.

Tea and coffee included free in lounge room, along with some simple but nice breakfast options, access to balcony with ocean view.

Shared toilets were a bit cramped.
