About this house rental
Nestled in Capitola, this charming house for $292 per night is a great option for your next break. We offer a beautiful two bedroom, one bath home on prestigious Opal Cliff Drive. Vaquita House is a remodeled cottage steps from Privates Beach, our gated neighborhood beach. (Our county vacation permit is # 111467.) The gate is open during daylight hours, providing access to this unique beach and great uncrowded surf spot. A seven minute walk along the ocean will take you to shopping and dining in Capitola Village and awesome Capitola Beach. Famous surf spots the Hook and Pleasure Point are also just a short walk away. A surfer's paradise; walk to your own break. Surfboad and wetsuit racks are right outside your door in a secure patio area for easy access. Vaquita House comes with a full kitchen, stainless steel appliances, and everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal right at home. The house has hardwood floors in the main living space and carpeted bedrooms. Island themed art work fills the house with a laid back vacation feel. Both the queen bed (with new frame and organic mattress, June 2018) and the twin-bed room (new frames and mattresses, April 2019) access the private landscaped patio through their own sliding glass doors. Relax in the sun with the outdoor dining table surrounded by flowers and hummingbirds. The patio deck is perfect for barbecuing on the grill or relaxing with a glass of wine. **Please NOTE: Because of Covid, we are keeping a "rest day" between guests, which may not be reflected on the calendar. (Example if you want to come from Thursday - Sunday and someone else is leaving Thursday, we would not rent that night. You would have to come on Friday.) Please check with us if you see your prospective dates matching a day another guest is leaving or arriving. Less than a ten minute walk to Capitola Wharf, Capitola Village, Capitola Beach, Pleasure Point, great shopping, and fine dining. Vaquita House is a short drive to downtown Santa Cruz and the beach boardwalk, and 35 minutes to Monterey. Perfect for a romantic getaway or family beach vacation.

We liked being close enough to walk to the shops, restaurants and beaches. We had every thing we needed and really enjoyed our evenings playing cards. The beds were comfy and our daughters loved the room with the twin beds and door to the patio. We did need to bring in a 4th chair from outside to seat us all at the table.

Beautiful, quiet home, close to beach access and good local restaurants. The perfect location for a Surfer's stay. We enjoyed the cute backyard with BBQ! And we were lucky enough to catch an unexpected fireworks show right outside the front door.

Three of us stayed at this property for a girlfriend's weekend and for the Capitola Art and Wine Festival. The location was amazing for us to walk back and forth to Capitola and to go to the beach. The house had plenty of room for the three of us. The owners had all sorts of extras for us to enjoy. We will stay there again.

This little home is perfect for a couple or small family. The location is amazing. It was extremely clean. The owner mentioned removing extra towels due to covid. More would be available upon request. I wish I had known before arriving that only three towels would be left for three people staying for three nights (3 towels for 9 showers). I didn't want to inconvenience the owner after arriving (should have requested earlier) so we used the towels for three days. I highly recommend this property.

Nice Place Near Capitola
Enjoyed a second stay at this cute rental. So convenient to Capitola. Wish the mattresses were firm. Also wish there was a king size bed in the larger bedroom. I’d probably return for a third stay if the bed situation was better for me.

We loved our stay at this property! Short walk into Capitola to visit the beach, restaurants and shopping. The house was stocked with everything we needed for cooking and going to the beach. The layout was perfect and very family friendly. I had a couple questions before our stay and Jon was always very quick to respond. Would definitely stay again!

The Vaquita House was in a perfect spot to enjoy both Capitola and Santa Cruz. It’s a quick walk into Capitola and a short drive to downtown Santa Cruz or the Boardwalk.
It was a clean and cozy place with a lovely backyard to relax. Access into the home was simple and the owners were very easy to work with. My only wish is that the mattresses would have been firm. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would return again. Great for 3-4 people.

Lovely little cottage perfect for 3 or 4 people. Clean, tidy and located in a terrific location. Couple of housekeeping items. We had some ants in the kitchen. Also...bathtub bottom very very slippery when wet. Owner needs to put a mat in the tub or rubber bumps down. A safety issue. Renter should be told in advance that the attached garage and 2 frt parking spaces are used by the renter behind this cottage - not part of this rental. Lovely area and time.

For us, this was the perfect location. Close enough to walk to Capitola and the local beach. Shadow Brook Restaurant was the best, including the cab ride - 52 Dodge! We would move in!
