Located in Balboa Island, this lovely cottage for $350 per night is a great choice for your next break. Mariners cottage has become a well known home on the island dating back to the early 1920's. The cottage attracts several visitors and pedestrians walking by. The Cottage is one of the few on the island that will still take you back to its heritage though without depriving you of the luxuries of today. This 2nd story cottage is totally private with its own entrance and 1 covered parking space. There is one large bonus/bedroom with two queen beds adjacent to a full bath. The Bedroom overlooks the cottage courtyard. The space also offers a main living room equipped with an electric fireplace. A fully functioning kitchen with new appliances adjoins the living room. The home is fully stocked to include: dining and cookware, linens pillows and blankets, towels, iron, etc. There is an onsite washing machine and dryer free of charge. Enjoy an inviting outdoor patio with dining furniture for 4. Bicycles, water toys, and all the excursions you can imagine are available within walking distance! The lower unit with accommodations for 4 additional guests is also available upon request if you have a larger party and would like to have both. This would include an additional complete home with kitchen, dining, living space, office, bedroom and full bath, as well as a large downstairs courtyard with hot tub. One additional parking space also included.

This place is a gem. The entire process was easy and the host communicated well. The property was updated and extremely clean and had everything we needed. It was great for our family and it’s a close walk to all of the fun things on Balboa Island.

This our second time staying at the cottage. It is a lovely place to stay. It is super clean and convenient to all of the wonderful things Balboa has to offer. The decor is so nice and inviting. Chase is great to communicate with and quickly answered the few questions we had. We hope to return soon.

I loved this little cottage. It felt like it had tons of space for such a small area. It was warm and cozy when we needed it to be, but refreshing with all the windows open. Close to everything. We loved our stay!

Nicely designed and decorated…kitchen with all the necessities including kuerig coffee maker….warmth and comfort…this was a Christmas getaway - the fireplace in the living room completely set the tone for a cozy holiday getaway - enjoyed the lights on the island! We had a wonderful vacation visiting the Newport Beach area while staying in this lovely, very clean cottage. It was beautifully decorated with a fully stocked modern kitchen and the beds and sofas were comfortable. It was located a short walk from the water, the Christmas lights boat parade, and charming shops and restaurants. A short drive away we experienced stunning beaches. The owner was helpful with suggestions and made the whole check in process smooth and stress free. Thank you for sharing your charming place!

The cleanliness of the property was impeccable, the location was within walking distance of everything – shops, coffee + market, and the beautiful bayfront. We enjoyed our 3 day stay at Mariners Cottage. We liked the location being close to both Marine Street and the Balboa Island ferry. We loved that we were able to bring our small dog and appreciated the pet-friendly option.

I am a single mom with two boys, and it was the perfect spot for us to get away and relax together. I loved how you could walk everywhere you wanted to go. We parked the car and didn’t drive the entire time. The decor was modern and beachy with plenty of room for me and two teenage boys. The owner thinks of every detail down to the nicest toilet paper I have ever used. We will absolutely be staying again. I’ve already shared the listing with several of my friends.

We used to live on Balboa Island, so coming here was like coming back home. The cottage was very comfortable, and in a great location. I had forgotten how often planes flew over however! I guess you get used to that. Our host was gracious! We would definitely come back!

We’ve stayed here twice now: the place is just perfect for a small family. The balboa night walks are immaculate. It’s close to Corona Del Mar. Each (2 miles) which is so clean and chill. Wonderful place to stay, so charming!

We spent 4 nights with our days walking all over both islands and the peninsula and our nights eating and drinking either in or out! This was the cutest unit! Great location and Chase is so very sweet. Bed was so comfy! It could be rated above 5 stars. Can’t say enough how we enjoyed our getaway back to Balboa Island!

The pictures do not do this place justice. Everything was very clean, and even more spacious than expected! My mom and I booked this place to visit family, they came over and we bbq one night the little balcony was cozy and the grill is hooked up to a gas line so no running out! So much room for storage, just a really amazing stay! The only 2 things I would change is the bedroom is so bright in the morning some black out curtains would have been nice. No sleeping in aloud. Or maybe bring those eye covers? Also the pillows were so hard it would have been nice to have some soft pillows. But other than those small easy adjustments I think the place was all in all an amazing place. Next time I will bring a pillow and eye covers to make the stay 5 stars.

Our stay was wonderful. The cottage kitchen is very well supplied with everything guests would need. The beds are extremely comfortable as was the living room. the bathroom was updated and well-designed. We had an excellent stay.

Couldn’t have had a more pleasurable stay. Every aspect of our stay beginning with our reservation was so easy. Chase has really done a wonderful job with this property. So many thoughtful touches and all the little extras left for our use adds to it. As others have mentioned, the heating unit is not quiet when sleeping but I found that by taking it off auto on both the heat and fan, and putting it on low helped with the noise factor. I also travel with ear plugs so once I put those in, I couldn’t hear the unit at all (and I am a very light sleeper). Aside from that, the only other issues that we found were that there was only one remote to share between the two tv’s. Also the shower head has some clogged spouts. However, I’ve no doubt that these will be taken care of once they are now aware. We definitely plan to come back and we are able to stay here. Well done!

This rental was perfect. It is located about 1/2 block from the water and there is a wonderful walkway that goes around the island. The location is perfect and the rental was as well. We will be back.
