Nice country location with overlook of the lake. A rare find on lake Shelbyville. Plenty of beds and room for a large family, or group of friends.

The location was great and the unique layout suited the family well. Lighting and location of the switches was a challenge. One of the stair rails needs repair. Overall, we'll probably be back.

We are a group of woman friends and call this annual trip COW weekend (Council of Women) We have been going on a weekend getaway for 12 years now. This place was perfect for us to chill and bond as 60 year old woman do.

This house is great for a quiet, relaxing time away. The cabin hosts several sleeping areas and various size beds. Kitchen was stocked well for cooking. Grill included. Great fire pit with grill available on it as well. Has small view of lake. The walk to it was full of poison ivy and not accessible unless good shoes and pants. Just needs some cleaning up. No noisy neighbors. Would consider again in future for big group getaway.

We loved this place. Loved the accessibility via a short walk to the lake, and the view of seeing the lake from the property at all times. The place was well equipped, clean, and had a lot of space and beds for the whole family. There are only 2 things that weren't 5/5 stars.....there only 2 beds that can be closed by a door. The rest are in the loft upstairs (which doesnt have a bathroom) and the basement. So privacy is minimal. Which isnt a huge deal. The other thing is that the floor and stairs are very very noisy so when sleeping in the basement, you hear every sound. But it's camping, so its not too bad if you're only staying a couple nights. We loved the privacy of not having other people around or having to watch our noise level like we do when we stay at cabins/lodges

The Firefly Lodge was just beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed it so much. There was plenty of room for all 14 of our family members. The kids all had a great time too. It was very private and had a great way to access the lake. Kathleen was such a wonderful host and so easy to talk to and very eager for us to enjoy ourselves. Thank you Kathleen

We had 8 adults and 5 kids staying here and it was perfect for us. There was a path down to the lake and the state park was in easy driving distance. The house was set apart, so we didn't have to worry about neighbors. The only issue was 2 bathrooms was a bit of a challenge for 13 people.

Overall good experience , great amenities, comfortable beds. Plenty of space for everyone. Owner was very prompt in resolving the one issue we had. Damaged window and door screens where they existed. Serious carpenter bee activity. The inability to open windows for fresh air was not good. Several of the dining chairs need to be glued.

This was a great place for my family to meet. It was 2.5-3 hours for all of us. The house was nice with a great big family style kitchen which was very well stocked for cooking. The down side was that it is a noisy house with open areas for sleeping that can make it difficult if you are a light sleeper. However, overall for a weekend stay it was a great choice.

Our family has been renting a cabin annually in central Illinois for 12 years. This cabin was located midway for all 11 of us. It was very nice and had plenty of sleeping areas for all of us. It was close enough to town that we went to dinner Friday night after we all arrived. We enjoyed our stay.

The cabin was perfect for our small team (7) to hold a staff retreat. Plenty of space at the dining table for everyone to meet -- definitely was room for more. And we used the tables upstairs and downstairs as breakout spaces. Kitchen had everything we needed for home cooked meals.

Rented the cabin for a friends wedding. The cabin was nice, clean, and perfect for what we needed. Only down fall is it was really squeaky when you walk across the floor and we had a baby with us.

When we got there the people that own the cabin were there and stay for several hours just kinda hanging out and building a deck….. weird. You would think when you know people will be having a private party you would leave when people get checked in. Not only that but my brother had his phone charging in the house. The owner answered his phone while it was charging on the counter. I would never think to answer a complete strangers phone. I would not recommend staying here.

This “cabin” had lots of beds - plenty for everyone and some spares. There was lots of gathering and visiting space. The porch and fire pit was a wonderful way to enjoy time outdoors. Perfect for what we needed for this whirlwind time together.

This cabin was what we needed for the weekend. It was like your own little world and the outside wasn't there. Close enough to town where you can get the forgotten items, but far enough away where you aren't bothered. The floors creaked, and you could hear others throughout the cabin, but it was like having a family at home again. It is a fully stocked kitchen with little surprises throughout. Our host was amazing! Responds very quickly to texts. Enjoyed thoroughly!

Our group finds a new lake house in the Midwest each summer to meet from our different cities. This might be our favorite so far! Great house—big, useable kitchen. Big property with plenty of room for yard games, etc. There are two more private bedrooms and tons of other areas to spread out. The boat rental we used is a mere few minutes drive away, and the loading dock is within walking distance of the house. Thanks for the stay!

This is a spacious house and it was well stocked. Be advised there is only one bedroom on the main floor, the rest of the beds are up or down. I am 70 and had two young grandchildren with me, so all the wooden stairs to the loft and basement were a concern. They are a little steep for the elderly and the young. But we were careful and had no mishaps. We enjoyed the backyard and walked to the water several times. My granddaughter had the best time each evening catching fireflies! It truly is a Firefly Lodge!
