We had a great weekend with friends. The house has more than enough space for the 4 adults and 5 children that stayed there. Everything was clean and ready for visitors. The only issue we had was the communication of available amenities and payment methods. Many things were cash only and we did not know that ahead of time. We still made it work and had a great time! :)

The layout of this house was good for our family. The owners were very good to work with. However the house was very dirty. Dead bugs on the floors, baseboards are filthy, and the house had a very musty smell. The tubs in both bathrooms have ALOT of mold in them. Both of our grandkids are now sick due to the mold in this house. Overall, a nice location and house, but way too dirty for my liking. Looks like it hasn’t had a deep clean in a very long time.

Tucked into the mountains of the Massanutten Resort, the Duke Den was a home away from home as we celebrated graduation. This charming home has everything you need and we especially appreciated the roomy first floor with plenty of seating for our big family, the view into the beautiful surroundings and the layout of the house. Having several age groups with us from adults to college age kids to young children we were able to separate everyone into their own zones. It was exactly what we needed for the event we attended and the time we spent there.

Place was larger than pictures depict. Very cute. Nice to walk around the area too. We loved it and would recommend.

We had a wonderful family trip to Massanutten. Duke’s Den was quite cozy and was the perfect place for us. It had plenty of space and provided everything we needed for a great time. The pool table, although on the smaller size was a big hit, and we enjoyed watching the enormous TV in the evenings. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The location is in close proximity to the ski slopes and for leaving to go to the grocery store or visit wineries. We will definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Communication with the owners was great. The house was well kept and met all my needs. I was there for over a week and felt at home immediately. I had a small group but there was plenty of space for more. Parking more than 2 cars might have been a challenge but I think 3 could have fit.

We did wintergreen last year and it was very congested and had to
travel 30 minutes to grocery store for food, etc. This home was .5 miles from slopes, tubing park and restaurants. 3 living levels, wineries and breweries nearby. We will be back to this hidden gem.

House was perfect for our family of 9. We loved the hot tub, the fireplace and the close proximity to the slopes. The back view from the great room in winter is pretty. Property now provides kitchen towels, so no need to bring own. Main floor tub/shower needs updating. Pool table needs new cues (missing tips on current ones). You can flip the pool table top to an air hockey top, but there are no pucks or pushers. This would be easy to remedy. The outside pole light at parking level didn't work, so it was difficult walking down the deck stairs from the car to the house at night, especially because of icy conditions. Otherwise, the home is very cozy and met our needs.

House is located on Massanutten mountain, not down in the valley - town of McGaheysville. It was super easy to get to all the amenities that are part of the resort. Neighborhood was quiet — no loud house parties, no kids zipping up and down roads on ATV’s. Everything in the region is visually stunning and If you’re looking for a place to retreat after a long day of fun and sun at Massanutten Resort this house is perfect!
We could tell as we entered that it had been cleaned but the windows and screens still had spider nests so we didn’t open them, despite the cool evenings and our desire for breeze. That’s why I chose a 4/5 for cleanliness. The cleaning crew should be paying attention to this and I bet the owners don’t even know.
It’s a very new and attractive home and the outdoor porches were a great place to enjoy the morning coffee and watch the sun rise through the trees. The deer forage in the woods and the grandkids truly loved watching them.
The hot tub was nice but we weren’t inclined to use it much in the summer. I bet it’s heavenly in the winter after skiing!
One thing guests should know before they book this home is that towels are not included in your stay. We didn’t learn this until after our cancellation w/ refund period had passed. We received this information in a message afterwards. If you’re flying into VA it may be a huge inconvenience . Fortunately, we drove and we were able to pack an extra big bag containing towels for bathing as well as towels for the pools and water park. We couldn’t have done this if we flew unless we we paid an extra luggage fee or incurred the expense of purchasing a dozen towels in Harrisonburg.
We would rent here again. We hope to go back and do even more at this terrific resort and stay at Duke’s Den again! You won’t be disappointed with this home and you should bring your family.

This property was just what we needed to enjoy a family getaway to the mountains. While there was no mountain view, the proximity to the amenities (mini golf, water park, etc.) provided by Massanutten, as well as proximity to other attractions such as caverns, made this location very attractive and enjoyable. Massanutten also has hiking trails that could be used to visit overlooks and explore the area. Would definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful vacation and loved this house! It had plenty of room, was very clean, no issues and felt like we were in a tree house with the view of the upper deck! Hot Tub was a definite plus, as was the location. Owner was good communicator. Thank you and would love to stay again sometime!

Duke's Den definitely provided a cozy experience, in a gated community. It was advertised. A few things could be better, but for most part these were told to us in advance. The place provides no towels and toiletries. We brought our own. We didnt realize that included hand towels, but made sense. Hot tub was great. Each room had its own independent heating. There are no games or amenities, but the wifi worked just fine. We had lots of fun playing pool (air hockey doesnt work). If you want a quiet spot on the mountain, with friends and family, this place works.

Weekend In Massanuten Resort Private Home
This property was perfect for our needs. This listing was very accurate! The location was great and convenient to Shenandoah National Park and several wineries! The kitchen was fully stocked in terms of pots, pans, dishes etc. In addition to bringing your own towels, I recommend bringing a few dish towels. :)

Dukes Den
We rented Dukes Den because my Granddaughter got married at Brix Winery and we wanted to stay close to that. She chose the area because she graduated from JMU and loved the area.
The house was very nice and accommodating.
We all enjoyed our stay.
