About this house rental
Nestled in Santa Fe, this lovely house for $550 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Located on a hilltop overlooking Santa Fe, New Mexico. This unique home was designed by Charles F. Johnson, one of the Top 100 Architects in the world (according to Architectural Digest). This home is a 3,400 sq.ft. living sculpture. Based on a circlular design this double adobe home offers a rare mix of sophistication, sensuality and organic livability. What do we mean by livability? A cozy 'Kiva' style theater room with state of the art Theater-Entertainment center, a main fireplace with towering five foot flames in an arched sculpture with breathtaking elegance, and each room has unique wooden ceiling treatments from weathered aspen to Indian style pine lattias, amazing views of both mountains and city lights from inside and outside on the grand terrace, an outdoor spa/hot tub in a private natural setting with the same amazing views, dramatic indoor lighting, plus much, much more. . . . Oh yeah, and an elevator to the lower garage floor making the home very accessible to all ages (and just plain fun). All this tucked into a very private hillside community just 1 mile north of one of the worlds most popular tourist destinations, Santa Fe's Historic Plaza district, famous for it's beauty, shopping, restaurants, art galleries and historic old world charm. The Neighborhood Beautiful hillside neighborhood, close to everything, yet very intimate. A long private drive-way and top-of-the-hill location make you feel far away from city life while just minutes away from the action. Pinon, Aspen, and Juniper trees all around the property,creating a private an oasis in the high-desert mountains. Minimum age requirement of primary lender 25years The home is located in a secluded area off the road and as such offers added security and privacy. Please note: there is a "ring door bell" on the front door which does have audio/video capability for the added security of the home and our guests. Sound System The sound system can be operated most easily with the HEOS App. For your convenience, you may want to download the app prior to you arrival and become familiar with it's use. If you have any questions, we are happy to help. Hot Tub As is common practice with spa use, please shower before use to remove dirt and excess oil or lotions. Please make sure all 4 latches are opened before you open the hot tub covers. There is a light weight green solar cover over the regular hot tub cover. This must be folder back over the "cover lifter" first before folding the regular cover over the lifter. Please always replace the cover along with the solar cover after every use. During our visit, we had a big snow storm which caused us to be 'snowed in' for a day. Our Host David, was very concerned and checked on us via phone and text nearly every day. He was so attentive, he arranged for some guys to come dig us out and throw down some sand. The views are amazing! I would visit again.

Views were incredible! So close to downtown and all the restaurants and attractions. In the house though, felt secluded and definitely was able to enjoy some serenity.

This was my third stay at this amazing home in the hills overlooking Santa Fe. The home is cozy, comfortable, and very well appointed. The large deck features a soothing fountain and a fantastic view of the mountains. It truly is an idyllic getaway.

My husband and I spent a week here, and we would happily stay here again. We especially loved the outdoor deck areas—wonderful shaded places with cool breezes to hang out. The home itself is very unique and beautiful. I can’t imagine what it would take to rebuild it at today’s log prices. Only two bedrooms—so not a place for large groups—but what a lovely place for a getaway into another world. Everything worked and the house was well stocked with condiments, paper, etc.

David takes great care of this wonderful piece of architecture. I stayed with my golden retriever for almost a week and wished I could have just moved in. It is such a unique building and just feels so solid and so well thought out. It was exactly what I was looking for. David was very responsive to my questions. And I am already planning a return with my family next time. There are a few spots of "wear and tear" here and there (mostly just a few casement windows that do not open), but they in no way reduced the pleasure of staying in this wonderful home. If you love great design and a natural space, please rent this place. You won't regret it!

Pictures of this listing don’t do it justice. You will never be in a more special home which so reflects the uniqueness of Santa Fe. In a quiet neighborhood on a hill yet minutes from downtown or Canyon Road. It took me 6 years to get here… but it is truly “casa encantado. “

This house was the perfect place to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The pictures do not do it justice - it is architecturally so much fun and yet so cozy and comfortable - with throws conveniently placed in all sitting areas. The kitchen was well stocked with spices (including fresh peppercorns), sugar, tea and coffee (even olive oil). The baths and bedrooms were furnished with quality linens. Having been in a few rentals lately - David is an extremely generous host.
The wonderful feature in this home is the elevator from the garage to the main floor - we are physically challenged so this not so small feature was a God send.
The frosting on the cake is the lack of the posted "Houseskeeping Chore List" to be completed by the renter prior to departure. David asks that the towels be left on the towel rack and sheets remain on the bed as housekeeping will take care of everything. You do need to take care of garbage if you fill of the containers before you leave - but other than that you can just pack up and leave - WOW.... this was the checkout method when we first began renting through VBRO.
Highly recommend this property when you visit Santa Fe - you won't regret it.

This property worked wonderfully for our family of 5. The home location was close to the plaza for daily visits but allowed for spectacular mountain and city views. Our family enjoyed the stars while relaxing in the hot tub and the beautiful home architecture contributed nicely to our first New Mexico visit.

This is the most fabulous house! It’s so close to downtown that you could walk and yet when you’re there you feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Your own private resort!! We hope to return soon.

We loved this property. The house was even nicer looking than the pictures - beautifully decorated and clean. The view of the mountains from the kitchen and living room glass doors was amazing. We liked the neighborhood - lots of space between houses and nice and quiet but still close (by car) to downtown. It was chilly when we were there so we didn’t get to use the outside space as much as we would’ve liked, but we did use the hot tub multiple times, which was a nice way to end long days of sightseeing. David was responsive and helped us quickly resolve the few minor issues that came up. We’d recommend this house for sure and we hope we have the chance to stay here again.

Beautiful property with a beautiful view. One of the coolest rentals I’ve stayed at in years. Reminded me of how VRBO/Airbnb used to be years ago when it wasn’t over saturated and you could find unique homes. 10/10 would recommend.

This is the most beautifully designed home we've ever experienced. Every direction you look is a picture. We immersed ourselves in the architecture as well as the Santa Fe fall weather - the outdoor patio is large and the view is lovely any time of day. We had a tiny challenge with the front door - and the owner responded so quickly and nicely that it was easily overlooked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This house is amazing. Very well supplied.
We loved the house. The only disappointment was with the pull out couch which was intended to be a 3rd bed. Also, only having 2 bathrooms in the house is a limiting factor if you are planning on having more than a few people. We had only 4 but found the limited bathrooms to be a bit of an issue from time to time. We would definitely book this house again for a small group.

Beautiful location
We rented this house for a vacation in Santa Fe for the week. The property was in a beautiful part of town the outdoor space was relaxing and the views were wonderful. The hot tub was in a great location. The fireplace in the living room was cozy and we enjoyed many nights relaxing there. The house was a little dated with the expected amount of wear and tear, but was still very comfortable for our group.

Relaxing Oasis!
My husband booked this beautiful home for our 40th wedding anniversary. The home is tastefully decorated with poignant art pieces and unique furniture in keeping with the surroundings, yet very comfortable. Including check in and check out days, we stayed 6 days, and by the 2nd day we felt so much at home that we could have just stayed forever:)
Carmen has many notes and instructions around the house helping to navigate switches, lights, and operational "how-tos" for the grill, hot tub, etc....and she is just a text or phone call away if you need more info or have a problem with anything in the house. Our stay was thankfully problem free. Due to various allergies, we planned to eat all our meals in the house and were pleased to find her kitchen is so well appropriated that we easily found all we needed in the way of dishes and cookware to prepare all we had planned. She even has quite a stock of spices and basic pantry items. The last few days were snowy and cold so we had a fire in the very large fireplace each night.....the house is stocked with plenty of firewood! The house is about a 25 min walk from Santa Fe square which we did one day. We also brought our bicycles with us and easily biked into Santa Fe square and around Santa Fe. We found the bike lanes not as spacious as in other towns, but the drivers were friendly and gave us room. Carmen's home was a perfect location for all we planned, and very close to the Santa Fe Opera if you are planning a trip there in the summer. We would love to return to this home. Thank you Carmen for sharing your home and providing such excellent support for your guests.
