About this house rental
Located in Dauphin Island, this attractive house for $350 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. SOL-MATE is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home in Dauphin Island, Alabama. The home sleeps 8 comfortably and is situated directly on the Mississippi sound. The rear of the home faces the Western sunset and is only a few feet from the bay. The beautiful water and sunset views will take your breath away! The gulf beach access is an easy and enjoyable two block walk from the house. The rear decks and dock offer unobstructed water views as far as the eye can see and spectacular sunsets. The home has a private dock with a fish cleaning station, bench, and dock ladder; and is perfect for fishing, swimming or just relaxing in the sun. SOL-MATE has extensive dock lights to attract bait fish and offers some of the best speck and white trout fishing on the Island right from the dock! Multiple outdoor entertainment areas such as full outdoor bathroom with private open air hot/cold shower, grilling area with propane grill, eating areas, gaming area, bistro lights, and outdoor large screen TV area with propane fire pit are just a few of SOL-MATE’s outdoor offerings. The laundry room is located under the house and includes a full size refrigerator. The main floor features the living area, fully stocked kitchen, full bathroom with tub/shower combo, and bedroom with queen size bed. The master bedroom with queen size bed, television, and private balcony overlooking the sound is upstairs. A full bathroom with tiled walk-in shower and a bedroom with 2 full size beds and 1 twin bunk are also upstairs. SOL-MATE is fully equipped with many things to make your vacation more enjoyable. Extensive kitchen supplies with extras such as coffee maker, crock pot, blender, and lobster pot are provided. There is a large selection of DVDs, and a library of adult and children’s books. Beach towels are provided, as well as all bed and bath linens. A corn hole game set and tiki toss game are located outside. SOL-MATE is lovingly cared for. Numerous upgrades have taken place in recent years and more are scheduled in the near future. Improvements are constantly made with the enjoyment of guests as our top priority. Many guests have become part of our SOL-MATE family and return each year to be surprised by a new feature or upgrade. There is a minimum rental of 3 nights during the year with the exception of a 1 week minimum stay during summer months. All returning guests receive a 10% discount off of rental amounts. SOL-MATE has a strict NO PET pet policy. Even though we love our pets, there is an absence of areas that are suitable for their safety and enjoyment. We also keep our guests with severe pet allergies in mind. Use of the boat lift is NOT included in rental. Smoking is only permitted outside at SOL-MATE. NO FIREWORKS or fires are permitted on the property at any time.

The location of this property was great! Loved having immediate access to the water for fishing and relaxing.
Check in/out procedures were simple and we had no issues.
The dock had a few spots that need repair, and are quite the tripping hazard especially at night.
The main floor bedroom had a dirty comforter, but there was an extra provided so we replaced it on our own. Some of the towels in the bathrooms were stained/dirty.
The main living area was nice and spacious. The kitchen was missing a few main necessities such as dish soap, and paper towels/napkins. Make sure you stock up on what you need before going to the island as there are not many options to get groceries/necessities.
Overall, it was a decent stay but could have been a bit more clean.

This home is beautifully decorated. The outside areas are the best parts of the home!!!! We had towels that all smelled terribly of smoke. I reached out to the owner who said they had called the cleaners- we were never brought any clean towels and the owner never followed up. Instead we had to drive 45 mins one way to get detergent and launder the linens ourselves. The top bunk bed did not have anything other than a comforter. There were other smaller things such as the coffee pot being broken- had to hold it closed for it to brew. The entertaining space outside is where we ended up spending most of our time. With some TLC this house would be nice. Maybe it would have been better if we didn’t visit in the off season. Overall, we stayed but we would not consider renting this property again.

This property is great! All amenities that were listed for property were available we didn’t have any problems during our stay. There are a few improvements we believe need to be made some burners on grill did not work, lots of deck screws/nails were coming up on back porch, couple broken pieces of deck rails on property have fallen off, the dock has a lot of uneven boards causing tripping or constantly having to watch where you step. All of these things are pretty minor and didn’t sway us from not staying there again as we have booked Sol-Mate again for next year!!! The sun sets from the back of property are breathtaking. We got to do lots of fishing off the dock this is a great place to stay for relaxing and to unwind!!

This property is very nice and in a quiet location. The cleaning crew missed the outside bathroom area completely also no trash bags were left. Other than that the place was awesome.

Rented 3rd week of May and will return. Have been to many places down along the bay and gulf area over last several years and this is by far our favorite. Everything is right there for relaxing from the hustle and bustle of life and spending good times with friends.

Our stay was beyond our expectations! The accommodations were exactly as listed. Beds are comfortable/the cleanliness was top notch! The activities at the house were fun to play. Fishing/dolphin sightings BUT the sunsets were the most breathtaking sunsets we have ever experienced!
Stock up on your groceries (before you cross the bridge) and disconnect. Enjoy!
If you are hesitant to book this listing, I hope you will trust me when I say this… Book it! You will not regret the experience!

We spent a lot of time on the dock fishing and caught many different types of fish including sharks, rays, croakers, sea catfish, sea trout and more. We also caught several blue (2 dozen male keepers which we boiled) and stone crabs in the trap provided and traps we brought. We plan on staying again hopefully in the future! Its a great location, private yet closely located to all of the public beaches.

A perfect place for making memories that will last a lifetime!!! Minor concerns were addressed promptly by property manager. The views are breathtaking! The boys loved fishing right off the dock every night! So many places to relax and take in the beauty! Being able to watch dolphins from the dock made my soul beyond happy!!!

Tried something new this year by downsizing and staying on the bay instead of gulf and were not disappointed. We were looking for outdoor living, and that's exactly where our time was spent. Inside, the home was cozy and had a great beachy vibe. Beds were very comfortable. We do wish the crab basket has been made available as listed but didn't want the hassle of contacting anyone to come out. Grill and downstairs refrigerator made it easy to eat all our homecooked meals outside. Everyone loved fishing off the dock where lots of little fish were caught. Our 16-year old even caught a little hammerhead shark! The sunsets were a little underwhelming the week we were there, but the location itself is the perfect place to watch the sun set had the skies been more sunset friendly. The tv area is a great place to relax and wind down. It felt like home being there, and we absolutely loved Solmate!!

This house is amazing! We actually have a daughter with a wheelchair she is unable to walk! The house downstairs has ramps which made it so easy to roll her around so she could be apart of everything! We also enjoyed all the perks like corn hole that came with the house! The upstairs is extremely gorgeous and very well decorated and the space is utilized perfectly! We stay in Dauphin Island a lot and I will say this is one of my favorite houses and we will definitely be back!

Spent Spring Break at Sol-Mate with my husband and 3 teens! We played corn hole, caught a blue crab with the provided trap off the dock, enjoyed the views and even saw dolphins! Close to all the island amenities and beaches.
Make sure to pack your beach towels, there were none onsite when we arrived and we had to purchase some. The dryer was taking a long time to dry clothes, we realized the outside vent was clogged with lent, cleaned it out and the dryer worked properly. The outdoor shower was a great addition to our wash off our beach days.
Overall a great experience and would stay here again!

Perfect location to walk to beach (about 1/2 mile), walk to Islanders restaurant bar (about 1 mile), and to walk quiet neighborhood streets. Beautiful sunsets seen from the back decks. Having a second full size fridge works really well to be able to grab all the groceries you need and to keep all your beverages cold. We enjoyed the outdoor space the most as we could watch TV, enjoy barbecue, grab a cold beverage, fish from the dock, do laundry, and have a bathroom right there where we didn’t have to trek upstairs and into the house.

I wasn’t sure how we would enjoy not being directly on the beach, but the sunsets at this house are jaw dropping, and actually made me forget about the beach. When it came to beaching, we enjoyed visiting a different beach every day and picking a favorite. We were like 5 mins from multiple beaches and it was a breeze to get in and out. I was pleasantly surprised. We caught large blue crabs right off the dock! The kids were in heaven. There’s was always something to do or look at and we always enjoyed coming home to Sol-Mate. I enjoyed the breeze and sound of the water while sitting on the top balcony in the evenings; sipping and reading. My mother has bad knees and arthritis in her feet, and she was happy that the front stairs of the house were not steep like other beach houses in the area and having a bedroom on the main floor was wonderful for her…and again, those sunsets!! Wow! Book it! Our experience at Sol-Mate was our first experience visiting Dauphin Island and we are hooked! We’ll be back again and again. Thank you!

My family of 6 (myself, husband and 4 kids) rented this for a week for spring break. It was a wonderful stay. Great amenities we loved grilling out on the grill and spending time outside. Very spacious with beds enough for all of us. Very clean and stocked with towels and toiletries. We will definitely stay again in the future.
