About this house rental

Enjoy extraordinary views and re-connect with what matters in this secluded, completely remodeled cabin with custom craftsmanship and creatively repurposed materials in every room. The setting is private with nearly 200 acres of unspoiled woods out the back door - yet we're just seven minutes from Healdsburg square with great shopping, a wealth of tasting rooms and restaurants to please every palate. Wine tasting along Russian River's still-small and beautiful wine road is close and convenient. Climb the steps to a tranquil getaway with exquisite views, and you'll not want to leave. Our most consistent feedback is that this 'tree house' feels like a world away from it all with its own little peaceful gravity well. This is not a house for partying or for folks who cannot handle stairs. From April through August, enjoy walkable Russian River access down the street for kayaking, tubing, or lounging on the beach. Year-round, there are hiking trails to choose from just outside the front or back door, as well as biking and paddle-boarding on the river. Within a short drive are some of the area's most beautiful trails and rides. We have hand-crafted hardwood floors and tile throughout with well-placed windows for a very open feel, that never-the-less maintains total privacy. Enjoy the outdoor patio while taking in the views, napping, reading or sipping wine. Or venture out back to take in 180 degree views from above the trees, BBQ under the open sky, recount the days' events, or just play horseshoes. For all the charm & craft, you'll find that the layout makes sense. In the master suite is a Cal king bed, 'en suite' full bath and private patio. Upstairs in the guest bedroom are two extra long twins looking out into the forest, with a separate full bathroom on this main level. We also have two more regular twins available on the covered porch, as well as a convertible twin/full sofabed in the entry den. The kitchen opens onto the porch, looks out beyond the trees and is connected with the main living room. We strive to keep the house tastefully appointed and amply stocked with all that you'll need for a comfortable & relaxing stay - from toiletries & hair dryers to a cook's kitchen, 'smart' TV & WiFi, and plenty of games for the playing. We had a lovely stay here. It was peaceful and quiet with many thoughtful touches from our host. The view from the balcony was spectacular and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked to cook and the host was very responsive to questions and suggestions for what to do locally. 10’out of 10!

There are a number of steps from the road to the door and parking is tight, however, those are only minor inconveniences in comparison to the wonderful views and peaceful location. We had a great time relaxing on the patio taking in the views. The property is located in a very quite neighborhood just outside of Healdsburg. It is an easy 11 minute drive to all of the restaurants, bars and tasting rooms in Healdsburg.

The place is actually lovely - beautifully designed and great views. We originally had booked it for five people and at the last minute two did not come, and that worked out well. It is too small to comfortably host five people. The owner was initially hard to communicate with about adding another person, but when I reached her she was great. During our stay, we had a little outbreak of ants in the kitchen, and she was super responsive and brought over ant traps. There were a few downsides. The description says there is air conditioning, and there is not. This was kind of a bummer on days when the temp was in the high 80s. The description does mention steps, but it does not say that there are 67 - quite a schlep for moving baggage in and out. Also, it was challenging for my 81-year-old mother, who is in great shape but still had a hard time with the climb and descent. But probably the biggest issue was the access. The map shows that it is a somewhat windy road, but there is no mention that the last part of the trip is on a narrow one-lane road with a sharp drop on one side. It was harrowing coming back at night. All of these things would have been deal killers had I known about them. That said, we had two people over to visit who fell in love with the place and were not bothered by them. So I guess it just varies based on your expectations and what amenities you are willing to sacrifice. This could be a great place for the right people, but that was not us.

All the reviews are accurate about the stairs and parking; if you usually can’t climb stairs or parallel park, this might not work out for you. For us, the stairs aren’t that bad and feels good after a day of wine visits plus my husband and I can parallel park. With that said, Heathers place is like a cozy treehouse and we loved the view off the front porch. The kitchen is well stocked, living spots have plenty of games/movies, and we found helpful extras around like candles, bug spray, and even an extra toothbrush we needed. We spent a lot of time on the front porch and every morning a deer would come down the side of the house and graze in the fenced in front area, it was sweet to watch. It’s a windy road getting up/down the mountain but you get used to it and you’re so close to downtown, a great location with a view. I recommend staying here!

Yes, this is definitely a Hilltop Retreat. Clean, well appointed, charming, and between the sun porch and sitting area above the home, very relaxing and peaceful. Us, the Birds, and beautiful, mature Bay Laurel Trees. We were in the area to attend a family wedding. It was the perfect spot to relax in-between visits with the family. Once we settled in, it was perfect. You should, however, definitely confirm what type of vehicle you are driving with Heather the host as the parking is tricky (small vehicles are best), and to access the hilltop retreat are many stairs, then more stairs to get to the kitchen and main living area. (65 stairs in all). Travel light! It's worth it. We loved it. We would stay again when visiting the area. Thank you Heather for providing such a beautiful space.

My sister, 4 of our friends and I stayed here for a long weekend in May. The house is very nice, well-stocked, with gorgeous views. I particularly loved sleeping on the sleeping porch looking out at the stars. The host was quick to respond to texts and very helpful.
