Known as the “Cape Cod of the Midwest” and beloved by travelers, it’s a place where days are spent by the water and nights end around the bonfire. It’s where to go for a barefoot, carefree, anything goes sort of vacation, where you can wake up to nature - birds chirping, waves crashing - and go to sleep under the stars. It’s the kind of place you want to be in the summer. A highlight of any trip to Door County is exploring some of the spectacular wonders nature has forged into the peninsula’s unique landscape. From sea caves to sand dunes, a trek around Door County is enough to spark anyone’s inner adventurer. So go ahead, travel off the beaten path and discover what’s out there - you’ll be glad you did! 1. Cave Point County Park As a county park, Cave Point is often overlooked by those traveling to Door County each year. However, this natural gem along the eastern shore is absolutely worth the trip. The wind and waves from Lake Michigan have worn away limestone cliffs to create underwater caves. On stormy days, the sound of waves crashing into the cliffs is thunderous, and the spray can shoot up to 20 feet in the air. The view from the top is breathtaking as you watch the water splash and swirl beneath you; however, there is no railing so keep a careful eye on the kids. Depending on the weather and the tide, visitors can climb down to the water's edge. 7. Whitefish Dunes State Park & State Natural Area Adjacent to Cave Point County Park, Whitefish preserves (over a 1000 acres) the largest and most significant sand dunes in Wisconsin. Check out "Old Baldy," which rises 93 feet above lake level and is the highest sand dune in the state. Stroll along the sandy lakefront or hike 14.5 miles of trails, including a boardwalk through the wetlands. Be sure to visit the park's nature center, which is open year-round, to learn more about this stunning area. This is a very special place! The clear water with its sandy shore, the location next to Whitefish Dunes State Park, a wood-burning fireplace and a home with everything for both kids and adults! Late October windy, rainy weather brought thrilling waves, while in milder weather there were gentle ripples on the water. Beautiful sunrises, and a great view of the stars at night.

A group of us decided to explore Door County. We found this place and we’re attracted by the water and privacy it provided. It is right next to wildlife park with walking trails. We went kayaking, shopping, played board games, cooked, and ate at great restaurants!

We loved our time here! the location at the end of the street was perfect and most of our time on the beach was spent in solitude. The views from the house were incredible. Thankful to have the A/C bc we had a couple of hot days. The upstairs didn't cool as well as the ground floor so we definitely used fans upstairs on those nights. Otherwise the weather was incredible. It was a welcome break from the extreme heat of our home in the deep south. On cool nights we slept with the windows cracked and heard the sounds of the waves all night. The kids enjoyed the beach sand toys and the ping pong table. My only gripe would be at this price point I would expect linens and shampoo / shower soap to be included but at least that was communicated in the listing. We brought our own so it was fine. Overall, we would definitely stay here again!

Not only are the house and the location unbeatable, but the owners are hospitable and bend over backwards to make your stay a success. This was our first experience with Vrbo and we couldn't have been more satisfied.

Thanks for sharing your comfortable home! The kitchen was fully stocked and the views/beach access were awesome! We walked to the State Park and Cave Point, looked at the stars and watched the sunrise! Can’t say enough good things about this property - hope to stay here again!

Everything listed on the VRBO site is accurate. The home was perfect for our family of 11 including younger children. The sand toys were perfect for their ages and the outdoor shower helped with easier clean up. I would recommend the bucket of warm soapy water for foot dipping to help with sand in the house.I do agree with one of the other reviews stating that if a person were to have mobility issues, the sand embankment would be a challenge. The beach feels as if you are on the ocean. The property owner did accommodate our needs after the correspondence issues we had. Bill assured us this is not like him and will help with our next vacation. Yes, we want to go back! ❤️
