Kitesurfing hidden gem

Extremely clean, very genuine staff, excellent cuisine and very helpful and flexible service. It is also a kitesurfing hidden gem. Constant , strong, on-shore wind, shallow laguna, and in front of hotel possibility of launching your kite.

I would definitely not go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The view from the restaurant is nice.

First off, the 5* that is indicated on booking is far from the truth. This place is nowhere near a 5 star. The location is something you should be warned about before booking. Not easily accessible with the terrible roads so far away from everything. We would be content if the service & food was good but we were highly disappointed by both. The food is a hit or miss and the wait staff is highly unmotivated. The bathrooms keeps running out of water, there was nice security that had to bring buckets of water for us to use in the toilet, how terrible. We also experienced frequent power cuts, no network, and bad WiFi. I also found it strange that the room had no phone to contact the necessary departments.

Overpriced place with nice sea view

No bedcover, just a sheet. VERY far from any town (Malindi or Watamu) and the road to the resort is VERY bad so it is hard to get to and from, especially at night. You get charged a lot from taxis because of the bad road. The beach is nice but the beach boys come up to you and beg for money. The restaurant menu is very bad as well as the food. The breakfast is sparse and you have to ask for a cooked breakfast, they don’t offer it to you.

the staff were nice

there is no proper road network to the hotel and the drive is through bushes ,the rooms are very small especially for the price to pay.Frequent electricity shortage that result in water shortages.

The worst hotel experience of my life

Nothing. We had booked three nights; we left after the first night.

There is no road to get to the hotel; it is located in an undeveloped location. There are off-road tracks but there are no sign to guide the guests. We followed Google Maps, but came to a closed road; apparently, the track was going through someone else's property and he decided to close the passage. We called the hotel and got someone to give us directions; we reached the hotel after 30 minutes going round and round. Upon arrival, there was no one to meet us and we had to wait. After seeing the state of the rooms we decided that we would not stay there after the first night. The hotel reception agent insisted that we should pay for 3 nights because we had booked through Booking.com. We stuck to our ground and refused to pay more than one night. We ordered a candlelight dinner that we saw on the menu; the dinner was served but there were no candles. The waitresses did not know the job; we learned that they were new and were brought in for the holiday season. It is one of the hotel experience that one needs to forget.

The location is on the outskirts of Watamu and more towards Malindi. The dirt road to the location is long, bumpy and exhausting. We worried about our safety as we were on bikes literally in the middle of no where. The queen bed was two single beds joined together. No TV, tea/coffee maker and mosquito net as listed in the facilities. Socket and bulbs not working. As much as the staff are friendly we never received a bill for our food that was accurate during our stay eg a 1500 meal was noted as 2300 we noticed the trend instantly. Very fishy.

the staff were friendly and we’re trying their best to sort out the problems, which were plenty.

it should not be classified as 5 stars by your site. it is completely misleading. the property should not even be ranked at the same level as Medina Palms or Kobe Suite. 1. the road going there is bad. 2. the villas are badly designed and dilapidated. in our 8 days of staying there, we asked to be moved because we experienced the following; a. electric shock in the shower and faucets in room 15 b. when we were moved to room 14, we experienced frequent power cuts without anyone telling us what happened. we needed to call the manager, Indira, in the middle of the night to ask for an explanation and if there was an emergency light. to her credit, she told us what was the problem and gave us emergency light that night. c. the food in the restaurant is completely boring and uninspired after a few days of eating the same things. the kitchen staff and the chef were friendly and tried to accommodate our request off menu, but shouldn’t this be addressed by the management in the first place? - the coffee maker was broken. for 3 days, we had instant coffee in the morning. we i isolated that they fix it d. the property was advertised as private and free from beach boys, but we were hounded by beach boys and sellers our whole time there. and the beach was so unclean - full of seaweeds. e. in booking.com, it says no prepayment needed. two weeks before our trip, we found out through a friend that we needed to pay 50 percent of the cost to secure our booking. we did so as the manager said they were fully booked, but when we got there, the place was deserted. again, false advertising. in other words, this was one of the most pathetic properties ever advertised on booking.com. we were just keeping a positive attitude while we were there, but surely, you need to seriously review this property so it does not mislead other customers.

The road network to the place is poor. There is frequent loss of electricity with subsequent loss of water.

Disappointing

the place is fine, but the trip to is terrible, we were lost in space, no idea, to find the hotel. The rooms are small, so far so good, the sea view is a lie. You see palms and if you are lucky, you see, if the wind is blowing, from time to time, a bit of water, far away. This is not, what I expect from a sea view.

It's a very good romantic environment. Very cool and the staff are very friendly

The road leading to the hotel is very poor and it's nearer Malindi than Watamu. It's better they have an alternative road.

Perfect Private Resort in Watamu

Staff friendliness, service was good, peaceful, isolated beach so no beach boys disturbing, great for couples, beautiful flowers on the walkway all around the resort, masaai security guards at night were very alert and friendly

Food was great, chef was great, only requires some more variety to the menu

Very good

Breakfast was good. Salt water pool was great. Beach was great. Flowers and grounds were lovely. It was not pretentious. It was Kenyan and fun.

Our room was a little small but we were not surprised.

I have enjoyed my stay...

I liked the beach it is so beautiful and very calm. sometimes the ocean goes back so easy for you to walk inside the beach. Since I do not know how to swim well I am always scared of water but here I found I could able to walk into the ocean. The staff is very friendly and the security of the property was very good because the Massai men were appointed as security guards. The Manager Mr. Edwin was very supportive and send one person to direct me to the property when I was lost the way.

The Internet needs to be faster because I found it was slow. The road to the property is very bad I guess Government may renovate it in the future. I felt a little scared while I am travelling into the bushes and I felt it looks like an isolated place.

Everything is very good quality, the food is very nice. Just check in advance driving directions, reaching the property might be confusing

A hidden Gem at the Sea

I had a wonderful time, I will for sure come back. From the reception to the Chef, the room and the food.. everything was taken care of to the smallest detail. The location is quiet and very beautiful.....
