Bathroom: With bath and toilet.. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Logs for wood burner available locally. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate. This property has a security deposit of £100.. Fossilers Lodge is part of one of the oldest, unspoilt buildings in Lyme Regis. Its rhomboid windows, rooms and floors give the sensation of being aboard a galleon ship at sea, and the coast can be seen just feet away from the south-facing windows. The nautical atmosphere continues through the apartment and the ornate panelling throughout the ground floor is reputed to have been salvaged from a shipwreck in Lyme Bay, some say from the Spanish Armada, though this is just local hearsay! There is much older, carved panelling sandwiched between the kitchen and dining areas sadly no longer visible, or rather, preserved for future discovery. Other features such as the working window shutters and a wood burner in the living room, make this an ideal retreat year-round. This fantastic home from home was built in the traditional unique ’cruck and beam’ style. This, along with many other restored historical detailing including the rare 8" elm floorboards and scalloped ceilings in the entrance stairwell, lend an air of old-world charm. The building was originally a coaching inn back in the days when Lyme was a major commercial port. The museum directly opposite the property was the site of the Butter Market where Mary Anning, perhaps the greatest and certainly the most unrecognised fossiler of all time, lived in her little house overlooking her rich hunting grounds. This will be collected automatically 7 days prior to arrival and refunded (unless a damage claim is received) 7 days after the end of your stay. The property is even more beautiful in real life than shown in the photographs. The rooms are all really sizeable. All bedrooms beautifully presented. The flat comprises two floors above a wonderful fossil shop and opposite the Lyme museum. There are sea views from the front windows. You really feel like you are experiencing a bit of history staying here. This is our 5th visit to Lyme and this was probably my favourite property which we'e stayed in. The location is superb - a flat walk to the beach and two restaurants. Truly wonderful.

The property is very characterful and the pictures don't do this justice. The location is superb and makes popping to the beach with kids easy. There were a few minor points for which I let the owner know and once you ditch the car in a car park for the week you will forget about needing it! We used the space provided for the other car but ours was too large for the allocated space and we anticipated this before we booked. I have already recommended this property to friends and would like to stay again at some point in the future. My children were sad to leave Lyme Regis and want to go back already!

We would thoroughly recommend Fossiler's Lodge as a convenient, atmospheric, comfortable place to stay in Lyme Regis. The sea, the Cobb, pub, shops, cafes, the museum, lovely walks all very close. Fantastic vegan breakfast in the cafe opposite!

Fantastic, comfy, warm and cosy cottage. Wonderful location with an amazing sea view. Very quirky old property with a big open roaring fire, just what we needed in January, it was wonderful.
