About this bed and breakfast

Summary: This is a very special upstairs in-law apartment on a quiet street in the wonderful neighborhood of South Park. The home is full of light and beautifully decorated with West Elm and Mid-Century Modern vintage furniture. The Space: The home is meticulously maintained. The unit is for non-smokers and does not host pets. For your comfort, all cleaning products are as fragrance free and as allergy free as possible. Luxury bedding, air conditioning, high-speed internet (both bard-wired and WiFi) and 32 inch HDTV with premium cable are included. The sofa turns into a comfortable twin bed (not a futon or pull out couch) so this home can comfortably accommodate up to 3 guests (4 if the children are little). The charming kitchen has the perfect "Gramma" style Formica table and all the cooking supplies you will need. The host owner has set this home up the way she prefers it when she travels and, as a result, the unit comes with all the comforts of a home only better. Guest Access: This is a stand-alone mother-in-law that is above the garage which is entirely separate from the main house. The Neighborhood: The hip, historic neighborhood of South Park in San Diego has "small town charm in the heart of the city." No chain stores or restaurants (except for a 7/11). Wide tree-lined streets with Victorian to Spanish homes, fabulous restaurants, yoga and fitness centers, salons, coffee shops, friendly nightlife, great shopping, full grocery store, organic and gourmet market. All of these and more are within 2 to 6 small blocks of the house! Things to do in the neighborhood... take a nice walk or bike ride, explore boutiques, get a massage, do some yoga, have a casual or gourmet dinner, bring your guitar for open mic night or catch a band at Rebecca's Coffee Shop, or play a little pool and dance at the Whistle Stop. Enjoy a hand crafted beer, a wine flight or visit during the four yearly Walkabout events and meet all the friendly locals, snack, listen to music and visit the shops in the evening. Check out (URL HIDDEN) to learn more about South Park. Getting Around: The home is close to everything. Two blocks to Bus 2 heading downtown to the Gaslamp, trolley, train station, and Convention Center. Across a canyon to Balboa Park or the Zoo. 10 minutes from the airport and 8 minutes to Coronado Island and the most beautiful beaches for walking, swimming and catching some waves (ask the owner about the short cut and parking secrets as she is an avid beach-goer and boogie-boarder). There is a gorgeous and reasonable Municipal Golf Course just around the corner. For transportation there is both Car2go area and several options to rent bikes close by. Finally, your culinary needs will be satisfied by several nearby farmers markets to stock up on fresh, local foods. Other Things to Note: For stays longer than 30 days, I require a deposit in the amount of one month's rent to be paid offline due 60 days prior to arrival as well as a formal lease agreement. Despite any stated cancellation policy, I will refund 100% for any cancellations made prior to 90 days from your arrival date. Thereafter I will refund your rental fee to the extent I am able to re-rent the unit for the days cancelled. Interaction with Guests: As little or as much as you prefer... The host, Luci lives in the home in the front which is just steps from the guest house but a completely separate structure and she loves hosting and caring for her guests so please do not hesitate to reach out for support or advice! For ease and after hours checkin, we are a self-service destination (check-in details will be sent 3 days prior to arrival). However, we are also a full-service, professional management company (that has been a Superhost/Preferred Partner for over 4 years running) and we are just a phone call/text/email away and have agents that are almost never more than 10 minutes away should a need arise.

South Park is a great neighborhood to stay in. My wife, daughter, and I stayed in Luci's adorable "Granny pad" and felt right at home. Safe, walkable, great food and convenient shopping would describe the area. Our host, Luci, was so gracious and friendly and had many suggestions on where to go within just a few blocks of her place! Access to Balboa Park and the freeways was easy too. And the interior of the apartment felt like a cozy home like my grandparents had back in Boston. The charm and comfort were there along with anything you'd need to cook a nice meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back here. Aaron, the property manager, made check-in and check-out a breeze too.

Had a very relaxing time. Only complaints were that the shower ran out of hot water after about 5 minutes (probably because the pressure was soooo high), the TV was small but had cable and ROKU, and the couch was uncomfortable after awhile. But the location was amazing. We could walk to the gym, coffee shop, bars, and the cutest bookstore. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Overall a wonderful stay.

Fresh lemons from the property owner were left on the table, i enjoyed them in almost every thing I ate or drank, very nice neighborhood, I loved the charm of the house, when inside it has a cozy beach bungalow feel, very well decorated, and a bonus was the small sunscreen in the toiletries, it really came in handy on my beach day đź’—, I highly recommend and would stay here again.

We were unfamiliar with this neighborhood, but wanted to stay close to Balboa Park. So glad we booked this property because it's a gem! The neighborhood is very hip and has really nice restaurants and bars close by. You can easily walk to anything you need. There is even a Target 2 blocks away. The space was perfect for two adults. We didn't cook much (only breakfast), but the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook. The bed is very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet. The parking can be a little challenging on Friday and Saturday nights, as people park in the neighborhood to walk to restaurants or shops, but we never had an issue finding parking pretty close to the property (for most of our stay we were able to park on the street right in front of the house). Communication with Aaron was super easy. He's friendly and very responsive. Luci (who lives next door on the property) is also very responsive and helpful if we needed anything. We had a wonderful getaway and would definitely stay at this guesthouse again.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights. The kitchen is fully equipped and there's so much old fashioned charm in the layout and the mid-century, shabby chic design. The beds are comfortable, water pressure will rinse your hair in seconds, and it was quiet. We didn't have a car which wasn't a problem. We walked on the paths to the zoo and through the neighborhoods to downtown on the way to the ferry terminal. Nice and safe. We went to Cafe Madeleine every morning which is about 4 minutes away, Great coffee, croissants, and Quiche. Curriosity, Kindred, and Buona Forchetta served excellent dinners. There were no reservations left for BF so we just ordered takeout. Luci is a wonderful Host. Thank you for creating a wonderful experience and memory!

South Park renaissance was not conducive to napping, but we got some rest and really appreciated being walking distance to restaurants/shops and excellent small gym (South Park fitness)!
