Historic Home with Modern Amenities!
About this house rental
Situated in Little Compton, this attractive house for $575 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. *Please see our updated cleaning protocol below and visit health.ri.gov for the latest travel information. This large, Federal period residence was built in 1814 by Samuel Church, a local merchant who settled in Adamsville in the late 1700’s. The home changed families many times, but remains one of the most prominent homes in Adamsville. We purchased the property in the fall of 2016, remodeled the home, and began hosting families in the spring of 2017. While the home retains many of it's original features, the kitchens and bathrooms are brand new, as is the central air conditioning & heating system. Sakonnet Farm & Stay’s Cleaning Protocol During the COVID19 Pandemic, we have modified our cleaning guidelines to include even more vigorous sanitization and disinfection practices. Kristin is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has assisted in keeping her surgical office open during this pandemic, keeping her staff and patients safe and healthy. We have just a couple of us that perform all our cleaning. We have discussed not cleaning if we are not feeling well ourselves, proper use of PPE, proper use of all chemicals, and disposing of all trash, cleaning supplies and biohazards appropriately. Cleaning is defined by the CDC as “the removal of germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces. It does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.” Disinfection is defined by the CDC as “a process that eliminates many or all pathogenic microorganisms.” Sterilization is defined by the CDC as “a process that destroys or eliminates all forms of microbial life” - so this would be appropriate in health care facilities, not in homes. We have changed our cleaning products to use products listed on the EPA’s list that are effective to this COVID virus. We are using these chemicals to clean and disinfect as per the directions on the individual chemicals. We are paying close attention to high touch surfaces including door knobs, light switches, stair railings, remote controls, arms of chairs, appliance handles, toilets, and faucets. These surfaces will all be wiped with a disinfection solution. We are asking our guests to turn on the HVAC air circulation upon leaving our home, and opening the windows when appropriate. Our cleaners will also do this if not done before they arrive. All bedding will be changed between guests, including the quilt/comforter and mattress pad. They will be laundered at the highest recommended temperature before being returned to the home. Virus particles do not live long on soft surfaces such as upholstery. Viruses in general do not live long on any surfaces that are porous, with holes or microscopic grooves. We have put away most of our decorative pillows and extra throw blankets for our guest’s safety. If our guests use any of the spare blankets we have in the closet, we are requesting they leave them out on the bed so we know they need to be laundered. We take great pride in offering a clean and safe home for our guests. Even more so now in these uncertain times, we want our guests to feel comfortable when staying at a Sakonnet Farm & Stays property.

This is our 5th year staying in Little Compton and 3rd year at “The Spite House” as our girls have taken to call it. The perfect house for a family: two large & comfortable king rooms, one queen room, and a bunk+ room for the kids.
Each year’s booking seems to include another upgrade to the amenities and we—like many before and after us—add to the pantry staples, kitchen, and beach accoutrements.
We sincerely feel each year is better than the last.

We had a great time relaxing on the patio. Plenty of room for everyone. Not far from south shore beach. Convenient to Westport shopping. AC was a plus. Owners were extremely responsive. Highly recommend!

8 Nurses spent the weekend here to celebrate birthdays.
Enjoyed every minute. The outdoor patio was a nice surprise and the beautiful weather had us outdoors most of the time.
It is a 45min drive to Newport and one of the King Size Beds needs replacing. I definitely recommend for a family or friends reunion.

We are a large family that traveled from NJ and stayed for 5 days. The house was large enough for the 8 of us. We own a historic home in NJ and felt at home. The house was centrally located for our daily trips to Newport , Jamestown and New England Boatworks. The Barn was great for breakfast right across the street. A1 pizza was convenient and the grocery store (lees) was more than adequate. We were satisfied with our trip and visit and will be back this winter. I would have no hesitation to recommending the house for a vacation.

Fantastic Property!
This property was exactly as advertised! It was a great experience to stay in such an historic and beautifully maintained property. The location was perfect for relaxation while still being close to the beach and within driving distance to several cities. I highly recommend it and will definitely visit again.

Daughters wedding
This is the second time we have stayed at this property and it was as wonderful as the first time. We came back to celebrate our daughters wedding. The 6 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls and the bride all stayed with us and there was plenty of beds and bathrooms to be comfortable and get ready for the big day! Kristin and Adam continue to make improvements making sure the mattresses are comfortable and adding furniture throughout the house so large groups can congregate together or as in our case, steal a few moments with our daughter before walking down the isle. The Sun room was the perfect location for pictures of the bride and the large kitchen made getting meals for a large group easy! Our experience was memorable and We will definitely be back again!

Excellent Place for a Weekend Getaway
I had an excellent time at this property. Everything was easily accessible from the grocery store to the beaches. The home is very large with lots of space, which accommodated everyone without any issues whatsoever. Kristin is very helpful in all regards. I most definitely would stay here again!

Fun in an old house
There were seven of us (grandparents, parents, grandchildren). The large house accommodated us comfortably. The area has easy access to Westport and Sakonnet Point. Little Compton is such a beautiful and peaceful town. We enjoyed ourselves fully. And when we were in the house we could gather together or be alone.

Very nice and very old house. Great upscale kitchen and lots of space for a large family. Renovated bathrooms. Nice and quiet location. Owner is helpful and communicative.
Beds could use an upgrade and bedrooms could use darkening curtains. Other than that, it’s a really nice house. Highly recommended.

Graduation celebration
Our stay at the Samuel church Estate was a perfect gathering space for our daughters graduation from Salve Regina. We had our family, as well as extended family stay for the weekend and everyone was comfortable! Even though the house was full, we had plenty of room to move around without feeling cramped . Because our weekend was filled with graduation things we were not really able to take advantage of the quaint area of local restaurants and shops but certainly a good excuse to come back. Our only suggestion would be to update the living room furniture. Although the pieces presently displayed in both the living room and parlor are more closely accurate to the period of the house they were not conducive for family gatherings to play games or even just to watch a movie.

Perfect family summer vacation
We had a great stay at the Samuel Church Estate. We had five adults, two teenagers and 2 3 - 4 year olds. The location was perfect. Elephant Rock Beach Club is 4 miles away; ice cream at Simmon's! The house is spacious and comfortable. The four bedrooms fit us all very well. Temperature control (A/C) worked well - very important!
We cooked every night and used the grill on the patio. Everything worked well. The kitchen layout is not exactly ideal. We had traffic jams around the frig, dishwasher, stove and sink. All manageable.
We would definitely come back next summer.

Great house and location
This is a wonderful place! The house was very comfortable for our family vacation with our adult children and their significant others. The house is very clean with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, plenty of towels and AC. The kitchen is modern and spacious and the outdoor patio is shaded. Adamsville is a great location with the Breakfast Barn and Simmons Market Cafe in walking distance. Little Compton “downtown”, town beach and Tiverton Four Corners are all nearby. Providence and Newport are easy drives. Be sure to check out Lee’s Market in nearby Westport and The Red Dory Restaurant in Tiverton.

Gorgeous & perfect location
This house is large, impressive and charming. The epitome of New England. Everything is newly renovated and spotless. The owners have done an amazing job modernizing where it's appropriate as well. A/C, beautiful modern high end kitchen & baths make this an easy place to enjoy time off. Lovely sun room and outdoor patio.
The location is ideal - easy to walk for coffee or breakfast and lots of local flavor. Also - comfy high end beds! Very important. Thanks! We'll be back!
