Location & quirkiness of the Boathouse was fabulous. Gorgeous lighting & very clean.
No parking which was the only hurdle, but we knew this beforehand. We parked 5mins away down the road.

A historic gem right at the heart of Whitby. Gave us our own space in the middle of it all to get away when it seemed crowded. Considerate touches from the host leaving a bit of food just in case we arrived late and a small milk in the fridge. Loved the guide book with the written history / recommendations. Loved the big bath. It was so refreshing to have no internet for the weekend, allowed a total digital detox. Finished the holiday with a swim around the property at high tide. Wonderful break!

The location
I realised it's dog friendly as we brought our dog, but the place needs a deep, clean, cracked tiles, filthy carpets, sofa is horrible, I had to put a throw on before sitting down, the kitchen is the only part which I felt comfortable in, there should be a stair gate as our dog was unfamiliar with the spirals so my husband slept downstairs, he had fears he jump over the chairs we blocked it off with..
Not to mention the parking, got told my the boatman next door, it would be ok to leave the car there and to get a permit from the pub, they told us post office, nothing, we tried the pay and display that was full, at £13-50 per day, we got back after looking for somewhere to the boathouse to a parking fine so that just sums up our experience 😵💫
