It met our needs

I liked the location and convenience to restaurants and sites.

This is an older motel built probably in the 1950's. It appears to be adequately maintained, but shows its age and does not offer the amenities of newer properties such as a breakfast room. However, there are plenty of eateries close by. It does have a pool and fronts on the beach. The room was reasonably clean but the beds were not very comfortable. It did have a refrigerator, microwave, and tv. The AC was a window unit, but it kept the room cool in spite of the nearly 100 degree heat. Probably the worst feature was the very small bathroom. There was sufficient on-site parking but it was rather tight to maneuver through the lot. On the plus side, it was amazingly quiet.

I have stayed at the Cavalier many times. But it seemed much better than before & I’m not complaining about how it was then ! The staff were great as always !

New yearly rental

Excellent beach access. Definitely going back for a larger room. Our new yearly rental.

Small bathroom, prior tenant's dental floss on bathroom floor. Definitely returning yearly for a larger room.

The Cavilier by the Sea is my favorite OBXplace to stay.

Cavalier by the Sea is very well maintained. It was clean and comfortable. The location is excellent.

I have no complaints at all. I really like the knotty pine walls that are in most of the rooms. Seems old style beach but the whole hotel is so well managed i don't want to go home when it is time to check out.

Black and white photo beach nostalgia at its best.

Quaint and dated in an adorable way, the location is everything. The entire place reads 1950s (I believe it was built then.) and is clearly there for the beach access.

Ice machine said the ice was “not meant for human consumption” and the room fridge didn’t get cold.

I would hope to visit and stay again soon.

the location was halfway between the 2 events I went down for, easy to get to and find.

You could hear the people walking outside and in the room next to us on each side.

Good stay - little pricy for what you get. Rooms small - but for area the best value.

Location- location- location! Right on beach and middle of town restaurants etc. witnessed new paint being applied to fencing around outdoor pool. Good upkeep and clean outdoor environment.

Rules - rules - rules! Establishment has many rules which you have to follow. Traffic direction, exact, I mean exact assigned parking space (really was to everyone’s advantage to do it that way) $300 fee for smoking, pet policy, ice machine policy etc. Nothing we couldn’t live with but goes to say something about mindset. Not enough bed pillows. Had requested extra towels which were not provided.

I enjoyed my stay at the outer banks, and this place was on the water.

The stay was decent. Very clean, just very outdated. Better Beds would be a plus and nicer bedding.

Not 1 thing. Terrible place

Dirty. Not maintained. Uncomfortable beds. No washcloths. Only 1 bar of soap and nothing else. Person at desk didn't care.

One of the last older (U-shaped) motels on the beach with lots of character. Covered walkways with close beach access. Close the restaurants and the room was clean and comfortable with lots of TV channels and good water pressure

Very cramped space getting to the bathroom. The bathroom itself was very tiny and difficult to move around inside.

Might be Vintage looking but don't be fooled, this is a gem tucked away. Staff was kind and the rooms were very well taken care of. Will be coming back to this place most definitely.

The length it took the water to get warm and even that wasn't horrible.

Great Option If On A Budget

The location was excellent, couldn’t be any better in my opinion. It was a good option for an affordable girls weekend at the beach. Room was very clean. Staff was great. They had a cute playground area that I know my kids would have loved.

The rooms could use some updating/renovations. A lot of the hardware and fixtures didn’t work the greatest. The beds could use a pillow top or something to soften them a little. The bathroom was tiny, and had no countertop to use getting ready. A good solution would be putting a wide dresser with a large mirror above and outlets close, leaving free space to set things. A few minor updates would make a huge improvement.
