For a 4 star hotel we didn't get glassware only plastic,not enough coffee sugar provided in room

The aspect that made the hotel Superb was the staff; in particular the concierge who checked us in, very kindly resolved our parking issues and informed us about Rouen. Regretfully, we can't remember his name, however we wish him luck in the Manchester marathon!
The room itself was fine and the facilities met our expectations. With regards to the location, it's an easy, short walk into the old areas of the City; well worth exploring.

Most staff were friendly and helpful
The hotel had been refurbished since our previous stay, we found this disappointing as a lot of the speciality decorations had been taken away and replaced with basic colours and it has become more minimalistic. The whole time we stayed, 4 nights, only one lift worked and we waited a considerable time each time we used it due to hotel staff using this during cleaning times, they were apologetic and it wasn't their fault. Also on arrival the hotel had no running water for the first few hours and after a long journey we would have preferred to be able to use our bathroom and have a drink.
In areas of the room, where new fixtures had been added, this looked very poor as the decoration had not been corrected, such as bathroom soap dispensers, you could see where it had been replaced and bare plaster underneath it. Also the shower surroundings had peeling paint and it just made you feel unimportant.
It is such a shame because previously we felt the hotel was quite classy. We will not visit again, sadly it has ruined it for us.
