Room was comfortable and real effort had been put into presentation. Lovely big bed and ensuite. On first floor so quick to access. Good facilities with hair dryer, kettle, soap, shampoo and towels were super soft. Curtains were all good and a window screen too. Bar downstairs was pleasant and had sport channels as well as outside garden.

Window was wide open and difficult to close in the night - not due to the temperature but due to the street noise from young people attending the kareoke. We were only advised that kareoke was taking place at check-in and we had deliberately avoided another hotel for noise disturbance from a disco and bingo so this was particularly annoying. Reception was a bit bizarre as a sign on the front door advised us to check in at the bar but when exiting that was the only way out as the bar was all locked up. We did not get told that you had to use the fob to reenter when the bar was closed so had to phone the number on the door. In the event of a fire we didn't feel there was necessarily a safe route if people were not aware of this. Our bathroom was very good apart from the shower head which had holes in it so the shower flow was poor. Slight smell of stale bathroom as you came into the door. The lock on the room door was very flimsy and in the night there was a lot of noise from other residents which sounded like they were stopping outside our door. Unfortunately the street noise - whether or not due to the kareoke - was really loud until the early hours. There appeared to be groups of young people doing the loop shouting their heads off presumably high on alcohol or drugs. In addition the duvet was unfortunately far too hot for us and so we slept poorly even after the noise had subsided as there was no alternative duvet. We have marked this hotel down mainly due to the noise outside (although it was also noisy with neighbours within the hotel) and the lack of presence of a reception where you could go to ask questions or pick up more milk and tea for the room refreshment facility. Maybe the latter was only a temporary problem.
