The single room I'd booked turned out to be a spacious double, which was great! With a bath - even better when on a cricket tour! There's a (not very maintained) nice stretch of lawn by the river with one rickety table which was nevertheless nice to sit at. The staff were warm and friendly. It would be a convenient and friendly spot to stay when walking the Thames river path.
My room was on the ground floor with a door in a picture window looking out onto the car park. So no river view for me, just a lot of car bumpers. I know cars rule the roost these days and a hotel needs a car park, so there's probably no alternative - but a shame to sacrifice a lovely view for a sea of tarmac and metal. One car actually parked right across my door for one day (not in a car parking space) which was rather thoughtless. Otherwise, the location is lovely, by the elegant old bridge, though sadly it's a busy road and cars rather roar over the bridge! Decor a bit tired, but it's all clean and works well enough. Breakfast OK, not great - just about serviceable.

Lovely location on the river Thames.
Close to Wallingford, where we were visiting for 3 days, for the bunkfest event. Breakfast was excellent. Staff all very friendly anx helpful. The room had iron, hair dryer ironing board, tv.
The hotel is going through modernisation and property repairs.
Some areas of the room we had were good, the bathroom looked recently updated, the actual door to the bathroom was still in the pre painting stage and looked very grubby. The mattress was old and you could feel the springs under the fabric, it was definitely needing replacement. We had 2 wall lights, both different shades, 1 didn't have a bulb.

The location is good, next to the river and within easy reach of local destinations. Bar and dining areas offer evening relaxation - noteworthy considering there's nothing else within easy walking distance in that respect. Good footpaths though, and mooring for boats.
My room, at the back of the property, suffered a little from the vibration of kitchen cooling apparatus.

Beautiful location this could be an amazing hotel but the new owners have really let it slip and will not spend money on the place , it needs full modernisation our room was big and spacious but had a weird lingering smell and just looked haggard. There is a really nice outdoor Swimming Pool here but the owners won’t invest to bring it back to life . The food and breakfast in the restaurant was lovely and the young waitress was lovely as was the receptionist we had who was very helpful too . It’s really sad when owners only think about profit if you invested in this hotel it could be absolutely stunning .
As I said it needs fully modernising and updating it was also averagely clean could be alot better .
