Enjoyable weekend celebrating sons birthday.

Excellent breakfast. Full English, fresh fruit, toast and marmalade. Good surroundings, courteous friendly staff. Hotel position directly on sea front.

Overall stay was really good

Very friendly tye bar and reception area very relaxing. Breakfast was relaxed and very good food.Staff very helpful and friendly

Not much to dislike the upstairs could do with a coat of paint and bathroom needs a facelift but the bedroom was comfortable definitely would stay there again

Lift was very old and small, Very dated upstairs The lady in the reception was very rude, I nearly something, but was stopped by my partner

Great for a short stay in Brighton

Nice big room on the second floor well away from the noisy bar next door at street level. Lots of writing space at the desk plus another small table and chairs. No need to go out for a dinner, food available in the Messdeck.

Solid choice for an overnight in Brighton, with a retro feel.

We last stayed here 34 years ago, though we know Brighton well. The price was good for New Year's Eve. The room was a little tired looking but comfortable and the staff were welcoming. The location is very handy for buses, trains and the town centre. A solid choice.

Breakfast was a bit boring and limited for 15 pounds a head. The public spaces look quite past their best with some furnishings seeming to date from when I came here as a teenager.

I’m having reservations done on my place in Brighton, this is my “go to” hotel to stay when the builders are in!

The warm and friendly staff, and nothing is a problem. It’s also, nice to deal with a team with such great fun, but the utmost professionalism.

Needs a revamp

Ideal location for The Lanes and town..

The room was poor wirh damage and it was supposed to be deluxe. Generally dated No chance of parking so I would not have booked it if i had known .

Not worse a money

The view

Bed. Lack of plug socket. Leaking window. Shower burnt our foot. Room was dated. Lack of lights. Poor maintained walls.

Comfy beds, great location and love music going on in the bar, nice breakfast on first day shame no scrambled eggs as an option but plenty of juice, melon and toast also.

The shower had a mind of its own. Room was very hot even though the weather was not great but thankfully there was a fan in the wardrobe. Breakfast was hot and miss, coffee disgusting so had tea second morning. No tomatoes on Sunday and only one type of egg usually there would be scrambled. Lighting really poor for ladies getting ready to go out so bring a make up mirror!

Nice hotel, great location. Don't drive!

Great location right on the beach front.

Very small car park on first come, first served basis which is not possible to book. The lanes car park opposite, to which guests are directed once the car park is full, is extremely expensive. Decor and facilities in general are old and worn.

The elderly lady on the beach

Location - right on Brighton beach. Harry the parking garage guy was cheerful and gave excellent service.

This is one of the oldest hotels in Brighton and it shows. You could say it's character but it's just really old and you have to navigate the many floor levels and leans. Food and bar prices were a bit high too.

Fantastic weekend break

Great location and a nice building. Good to sit outside in the sunshine with a drink and people watch😂.

The hotel is quiet tired and could do with a few quid spent on it.

Lovely stay on the sea front

The location is fantastic, the room was lovely and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The check in was simple and quick and same with the check out. Being on the sea front was brilliant. Breakfast was really nice too and the staff there couldn't do enough for you.

I think it is in need of a refurbishment. It's a little tired and needs a bit of work. There are cracks in the walls and it needs a lick of paint. Having said that, it was still cleaned nicely enough, just needs updating that's all.

Well worth the money & the weather was fine as well!

The room was bigger than expected, light & airy. On the seafront, so the location was perfect. The food was excellent.

I was surprised that there was neither porridge nor scrambled eggs as a breakfast choice.

Brighton was a lovely place and we enjoyed our time there but won’t be going back or recommending the ship hotel

location was excellent

it was shabby and not very appealing, the reception area and bar was nice but the room was drab with holes in the net curtains and our view was of a roof with pigeon s**t everywhere! I understand that some rooms aren’t going to have the best view but pigeon mess all over the windows is not want you want to see! also I find it bad that they charge guests £25 per day for parking, shouldn’t guests get at least a discount??

staff was very friendly

dated old room, bath tub did not drain, could hardly stand up straight in the shower because the roof was so low, no way to regulate room temperature (very cold), carpet looked dirty, bathroom in desperate need of renovation, mattress was completely worn out.

Good location beautiful weather so we were lucky. Brighton itself has deteriorated in recent years

Room was in a good location nice and quiet so no disturbance overnight given we had a dog with us who had never stayed in a hotel before.

Room was tired Bathroom door handlle falling off. Generally the upkeep of the whole building needs some attention but we did appreciate it is an old building.
