The whole place lived up to expectations - the staff were excellent as was the premises. The grounds are superb and dining can be enjoyed inside or outside.
Food: The chips with the fish were advertised as ''tripple cooked chips'' - in my opinion they were nothing of the sort. They were pre-packed and pre-frozen it seemed to me. The head chef here shoudl take a trip to see Heston and see what tripple cooked chips actually are
these were very likely ''cooked or re-heated' 3 times and it tasted like it

Room was perfect, with lovely views of the gardens.
Atmosphere excellent with very helpful staff.
Outstanding topiary gardens.
The breakfast arrangements make it nearly impossible to have both food and coffee hot at the same time.
Extremely limited and basic evening dining menu.
Lack of proper glassware in the bar and dining room. (no liquor or brandy glasses, liquors served in whisky glasses). Wine glasses poor/cheap quality.
Not what I would have expected from a four star hotel.
If you want decent glassware bring your own.

We had bought a superior double and the room was certainly large and well appointed
It would have been better if superior doubles offered a teapot and fresh milk so tea could be best taken in the room given the price

Lovely room, but the hotel is a bit complicated to get around at first, steps here and there. Spa not bad, pool was nice but steam room and sauna a bit small for such a big place. Grounds are lovely to walk in.
Lack of bar options like beers and lagers and staff not managing the bar, too busy in restaurant and getting their drinks to accommodate. Food unfortunately was poor. Ate at restaurant x2 and both nights not good food, especially for the price. Undercooked prawns sent back, poor fillet steak, dry, tough and expensive for what it was. Raw vegetables. Breakfast average and no cappuccinos until after 9am. Staff nice when we advised of food issues and gave a partial refund on one occasion but high class hotels should have high class chefs.
