Great location
Disappointed that guests have to pay to park. Also we were not bothered about early check in. We did however because we had parked the car let the staff know we were there. At this point we were offered early check in if the room was available at an extra charge of £20. We declined but it did not leave a good or friendly welcoming impression especially after already paying to park.

The Crown’s rooms need a refurb. It is charging 4* prices with 3* standards.
The shower was impossible to turn down the temperature to something like comfortable and the bath plug was stuck shut. Although the staff managed to force it open, no maintainance staff work at weekends.
The restaurant menu was more suited to a pub, so we ate out.
Cleaning not thorough enough with a large “ring” on my bedside table, and my room in the Leger annexe was opposite the kitchen where the extractor fan constantly hummed, and cooking smells were prevalent at meal times.
All the staff however were great. Very friendly and helpful.
Will think twice about staying there again next year.
Fantastic old coaching house, but rooms tired and in need of refurb and modernising.
