Enjoyed but wouldn't return.

Nice location and grounds.

Swimming pool quite cool. Steam pool/jacuzzi lovely. Run down room. Husband cut his foot on exposed carpet gripper coming out of bathroom. Asked for quiet room but it was on a landing with noisy passers by in early hours. Ridiculous prices for bar snacks and drinks, lots of people commenting. Staff over attentive at breakfast, hovering.

Relaxing stay

Lovely location, booked hotel because of the spa,it was great! Nice and clean with good size pool along with the facilities. (gym, jacuzzis , sauna, steam room, foot spa) The bar area was a nice place to sit, comfortable, relaxing and great views onto golf course. Ordered a pizza at the bar, very tasty, lots of topping and big enough fof 2 people. Drinks were on the pricey side, but had I checked the drinks menu, I could of got the wines cheaper, However. Expected to pay more, being in a grand hotel with stunning ceilings and architect. Breakfast was self service and good selection on offer, we enjoyed it.

Telly could have been more updated with applications. Two pillows were uncomfortable, so lumpy and beyond repair, need to be thrown away. The bed was comfortable

This hotel is absolutely wonderful.Beautiful location,Spa facilities, but the food was awful.

The location of the hotel, the spa facilities and the staff were great.

Unfortunately the food at the hotel restaurant was awful. I am very sorry because it is such a lovely hotel and everything was fantastic but the food was very disappointing and the menu did not offer a lot of choice. We had dinner only once and we didn’t like it at all. I really believe they should change the chef for their own benefit.

Exceptional stay at this beautiful historical hotel, where the spa attend to your every whim.

The hotel is exquisite, luxurious, set in beautiful quiet surroundings. The staff were all friendly and eager to help. The receptionist was friendly, easy to talk to which helped a lot as I have ADHD and can be hard work, yet he maintained his polite professionalism throughout our numerous chats. Breakfast outstanding in all areas, quality of food, staff and the service. Will be returning in the near future but staying longer. I was so impressed

Confusion on actually locating hotel reception as I wandered into the spa Clearer map to direct people with my disability to find our room more easily or be escorted up

Room for improvements

Location is great just before city centre , Roman gardens looked amazing and the landscape views , the hotel itself is beautiful… feel like going back in time. Bottled water was provided In the room with tea and coffee making facilities, room was very spacious.

Bed was uncomfortable quite hard , bedroom was next to a plant room on the roof outside the window and quite noisy, I didn’t think breakfast was as good in terms of choices and variety as other 4 stars hotels in Stratford. Staff at main reception and at the spa didn’t feel they were very friendly or welcoming , I felt more like an inconvenience for them.

Great location, Great facilities, beautiful garden and friendly staff

Staff on the whole were very accommodating, friendly and professional. The swimming facilities were great and we all had a great time. The grounds were beautiful and the breakfast was great. Parking was difficult to find as there was a wedding going on at the hotel but the hotel staff allowed us to park in a disabled spot with no hesitation and were very accomodating.

A couple of things ruined the experience: 1) Our shower didn't drain fast so it would over flow into the bathroom if you took anything but a quick shower. I raised this on the first evening (Saturday) and was told it would be fixed the next day. The next day (Sunday) I asked if it had been fixed and was told it should be. When I mentioned it to the staff at check out i was told there is no maintenance staff on the week hence it wasn't fixed. We should have been relocated to another room or something if the shower couldn't be fixed (note the sink had the same issue but it didn't overflow but we would see our spit etc. floating in the water which was a little gross as it took along time for the sink to drain). Another thing that ruined the experience a little (far less important than the drainage issue) was when I asked the Bar staff if they still honored the late night alcohol availability for guests I was told with hesitation it was but ideally they wanted to close up the bar as the "bar staff need to sleep too". This felt a little abrasive.

Good but could be a lot better

Room size was good. Bed comfortable. Plenty of storage. Staff very helpful. Lovely gardens. Spa and pool area were lovely. Had sauna, steam room, foot massage, hot tub, inside and out and pool. Again the outside spa needs tlc. Tiles missing. All complimentary with the room.

Rips in nets on windows. Tv not working. Had to be moved to first floor room which wasn’t idea with my husbands disability. Carpets worn. Very very tired looking. Whole hotel needs a spruce up. Shower screen not fitted properly so water leaks onto floor. When moved to another room, it had a lounge and bedroom which was nice. Unfortunately the tv in the lounge wasn’t working either!!!!! Breakfast wasn’t great. Rubber eggs,,sausages skins very hard to cut through. No hash browns or poached eggs Ordered a bowl of chips about 7pm. Still waiting at 7.55. Decided to cancel. God know how long a meal would have taken!!!!

While a few details did not meet our expectations, overall we enjoyed our stay

Location had beautiful grounds and was very peaceful. Lovely architecture with period furniture. Five minute drive to the town centre.

We were “upgraded” to an apartment away from the main building which had a few minor defects and leftover food in the fridge.

Relaxing stay in an attractive heritage hotel

Friendly staff, great views and location. Comfortable, spacious room and good breakfast (recommend booking in advance). Enjoyed using the spa facilities in the morning. Good value for money.

Some aspects of the spa were a bit tired or not working (e.g. lockers and foot spa). Gardens needed some TLC.

Needs more staff and some money spent on it

The building and gardens are lovely, the room and 4 poster bed were huge.

Their seemed a shortage of staff, when someone left their post guests had to ask someone else for help. The lack of work uniform made it feel unprofessional. The food was OK, but served so quickly it wasn't freshly made. It is a very large building but most of it, including the bedrooms lacked a cleaners attention to detail. It was very overpriced, we spent the following night 4 miles away in a similar sized hotel and roughly the same price, but it met all expectations of a £250 per night hotel, sadly the Welcombe didn't.

Room was nice, lovely view.

Bar food was ok but lacked presentation, veggie burger quite dry with just a few thin fries, no salad so very basic. Help yourself coffee from a flask a bit canteen like. Lots of wasps in the bar so staff decided to spray them with fly killer while people were eating, not a good plan

Problem with key cards that didn't work. Ongoing issue with the bill. Hotel tired and needs a paint. Reception staff not friendly.

The hotel is stunning, room was very nice and comfortable, staff were incredibly helpful and lovely through out we had a great weekend

Only one foot spa working in the spa, and one of the rooms near the steam room was not working properly

Superb

I thought the setting was very peaceful and great views from the bar and restaurant, the spa was very nice. We stayed in a executive room which had a very good bathroom and was quite spacious.. Overall we waa very happy with the hotel and would definitely stay again especially on a Sunday because it is a half the price of a Saturday making it great value.

Nice grounds, good spa, lovely views, beautiful building.

The room was a bit tatty - cracked sink, scuffed walls, the plug opener/closer in the shower came off in my hand and the bath plug was jammed shut. The key cards also broke multiple times during our stay. The most disappointing thing however was how unsustainable all the toiletries were - everything in tiny plastic bottles that are actually very difficult to get the products out of (conditioner way too thick to come out) which meant a lot of wastage and unnecessary packaging being used every day. Also every day our barely used soap was thrown away and replaced with a brand new wrapped one - very wasteful and not at all sustainable. This should be looked at immediately as this hotel must generate a lot of unnecessary wastage. Breakfast was ok but no fresh fruit, no flavoured yoghurts and the coffee machine was out of order. Food in the bar was also a bit "meh"
