Staff were always excellent, location is very nice and the food in the restaurant (Dinner and Breakfast) were very good quality. Plenty of parking and the hotel has some nice features.
Rooms are a bit dated and there was some mould around the bath. Our bathroom radiator valve had also snapped off in the past and so it was like a sauna! Based on this, the price paid was a bit over the top.

This hotel really feels special. Rooms have loads of historic features, makes you feel like an aristocrat for your stay. Great views and walking distance to Durham Cricket ground. Excellent dinner.

Exceptional building - so fun to stay somewhere with such history. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Just wandering around the building was really interesting. Breakfast was good and the library bar was warm and friendly.

Great grounds and walks. Courtyard area was great.
The rooms and most areas are tired and need a refresh. And the number of signs telling you what you weren’t able to do or had to do!! 1 single mushroom with poached egg
