Absolutely beautiful location with unreal views. The water villa was stunning and the whole hotel was gorgeous. Such an incredible place to stay!

We paid extra to upgrade to a drinks package and were told that selected drinks were included. At dinner, we ordered a glass of wine and specifically confirmed with the staff beforehand that it was included in our package. However, it was then added to our bill. When we questioned this, the situation was handled very poorly. The staff were quite rude and simply insisted that we had to pay, despite it being their staff member who had confirmed the wine was included. One staff member essentially dismissed us and sent us away, and nobody seemed to know how to resolve the issue. We felt that, given it was clearly a misunderstanding caused by the information provided by their own staff, the charge should simply have been removed as a gesture of goodwill. Instead, the way it was handled made us feel uncomfortable and unfortunately took away from an otherwise beautiful stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sun Siyam Olhuveli – for us, it was perfect in almost every sense. The location is excellent, not too far from Malé airport, and the beautiful lagoon was a real highlight. Our room overlooked it and the view was picture-perfect. Even when the other side of the island was windy, the lagoon remained calm and sheltered, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Our room was kept absolutely spotless and the service throughout the resort was excellent. Staff were friendly, courteous and always nearby if you needed anything. We particularly appreciated the Quality Assurance Manager Hasnain, who made sure we were comfortable and well looked after throughout our stay. The food was varied and plentiful, with good gluten- and dairy-free options. We had one issue with allergens, but it was taken very seriously and resolved quickly and professionally. We stayed full board and found it more than enough. The three meals were plentiful, while additional food and drinks were reasonably priced – around London prices – with regular happy hours. For us, full board offered better value than all-inclusive. The three connected islands give you plenty to explore, and the buggy service makes getting around very easy. The reef is beautiful and easily accessible for daily snorkelling, with incredible sunsets and the magical evening experience of watching fish and manta rays in the illuminated water. We also loved our nurse shark excursion. The boats were clean, comfortable and fast and everything felt very professional and safe. The only real negative is that the resort shops are extremely expensive, so bring anything you might need with you. Overall, a beautiful resort with an exceptional lagoon and reef, spotless rooms, great food and genuinely attentive staff. We will return for sure.
