Hotel Villa Mercedes Palenque

Almost everything was amazing. The hotel is so beautiful, the rooms are spacious and the pools were so nice and well kept. The people working in the garden and the cleaners were all very polite.

The restaurant staff was not at all up to the task. They were rude, not helpful and very slow. I don't know why, but the Thursday we were staying there, the breakfast buffet was not available, so we ordered something off the menu. I ordered a fruit plate which normally should come (according to the menu) with yoghurt and agave. I just got a plate with three slices of melon, pineapple and some other fruit. That wouldn't really have bothered me, if it hadn't taken them 45 MINUTES to bring me this (while there was almost no one else there, btw). And than they had the nerve to act mad when I didn't give them a tip. Really, so disappointing. Also, the first night we got there, it was really late, I was really grateful that we could still eat something, however, as a vegetarian, the only option is pasta with oil. Overall, the restaurant was not at all up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

The hotel is in the middle of the jungle, waking up is a treat. A pair of macaws stay around the mango trees and add beauty to the place. The hummingbirds abound around the beautiful flowers. This hotel allows extended stay later than regular checkout time for an extra fee. The property is within a walking distance of 20 minutes from Palenque National Park.

I enjoyed everything.

Great swimming pool and a secluded location with fabulous biodiversity. Our room was spacious and quiet. Staff are lovely — Beatriz, Josue and Alejandro were really friendly and helpful!

Breakfast wasn’t included in the room cost and meals were quite pricey. Food wasn’t incredible and there were almost no vegetarian options. A lot of items/options we chose ended up being unavailable. It’s a great resort but paying upwards of £25 for a meal for two (including alcohol) three times a day was off putting.
