The location is to die for. The beach is practically private with few people outside of the hotel visiting. Very quiet. The room was very comfortable. Aging but lovely and nothing to complain about, staff were very polite. Beach was spotless as was the pool area. An outrageously wonderful amount of crabs on the beach. I was obsessed with this, if tiptoeing around hundreds of them in the evening scares you,
Be aware of this. We were here in march-April so towards the end of the season so the spa wasn’t open. Breakfast was very limited, you could order eggs, ham. There was bread you could toast with butter and jam as well as watermelon and pineapple. Very limited but an okay way to start the day. The water was beautiful and the location really can’t be beat, you’re 2 minutes from the town. Really wonderful place to stay.
Be aware of the local dogs. I am dog OBSESSED but we had to be very careful not to interact. We stopped walking home from the town in the evening and opted to get driven back as one night my partner got bitten several times by one dog as we were walking home. It was a playful happy dog clearly full of mischief and energy but we were lucky it didn’t break skin, it did actually bruise his arm. 3 more dogs joined it in the last stretch of our walk and we saw them often afterwards. This is nothing to do with the hotel at all - just a word of warning as we adore animals but him getting bitten really did scare us.

The location is excellent - very quiet, next to the best part of the beech - much better than the premium Sivaya resort nearby. The natural and unpretentious garden require some time and cate to grow but the owners seem to be aware of it and try to think of the future of the garden. Lets not forget that its a sandy area and its not easy for some plans to grow on that soil. We loved big terraces and furniture - both outdoor and indoor. Tye rooms are a bit used but we didn’t mind because the atmosphere, location, amazing see view from the villa, kind staff really made a difference. Its my favorite kind of resort in Thailand - relaxed, good balance between the facilities and the atmosphere, good cuisine and kind staff always ready to smile and help. I loved the nature, birds and unpretentious atmosphere; no rush, no dressing up, just a sound of waves and birds.
The lack of rubbish bins on the area - guests would be more eager to keep the place clean if they had the bins provided.

We got upgraded and our room is right next to the beach
Good location, right next to the most expensive hotel on the island

The bathroom seems to be a bit dirty and it doesn't seems to be maintained for quite some time, our room was supposed to have outdoor shower, but it didn't exist. And the toilet doesn't flush sometimes with very weak water pressure ( I suspect it's because of being on the island ).
The way to the hotel was confusing, there is the local narrow dirty road with no sign. It's actually only less than 10 mins walk from the pier but you wouldn't know if you come first time.
The check in was hugely confusing, I understand it is low season and they probably hire some local inexperience young people to help out. The girl who checked us in was very nice and friendly, but she didn't seems to understand what I ask for the room ( I want all beach front, but we ended up only get 1 room and the rest are in second rows despite the whole hotel was almost empty ). BTW, Im local who speak Thai, so pretty sure my communication was quite clear.
First night we didn't have duvet for all the bed, I asked the staff and they mentioned that the extra bed only come with bedsheet... I appreciate that the local might have different mindset and way of living but a bedsheet doesn't replace duvet. It was really shock at first, but luckily in the end other staff brought us extra duvet.
There were stray dogs everywhere, probably 5-6 of them running around us and sometime end up fighting. It can be very frustrated sitting at swimming pool with 5 stray dogs sit around you waiting for food.
