The location is great. You can go to different kinds of tourist spots within the walking distance. You can also easily rent U-bike close by. The room is spacious and provides you a comfortable stay.
The wall is rather thin. We occasionally heard shouting and loud conversation and wondered whether it was coming from the TV, but I don't think it's the hotel's fault.

Central location near train station. Very large room. Clean. Comfortable beds and well equipped. Breakfast okay though only a limited choice of sweet items.
The intensely unpleasant moldy smell in the room. On the first night it was completely overpowering. The next two nights were survivable. Asked twice for a dehumidifier. On the first night I was told it was borrowed already. The next day a different receptionist said they do not have any. Even the cleaning lady must have noticed the smell because she left the window open on one of the days.

Good location, friendly staff, room is clean.
Soundproofing is not enough. You can hear neighboring guests and upper floors footsteps. Vehicles outside can be heard.

My superior room was spacious and very comfortable. It was also very quiet. No noise from outside or nearby rooms.
Quiet neighborhood and walking distance to the Taichung train station, but may take more than ten minutes.
A lot of breakfast items were cold. Three different kinds of fruit are available, but only if you eat early. Otherwise, some dishes or fruit are not replenished.
Not a ton of restaurants nearby. A couple of blocks away there is a great old fashion bakery store with lots of traditional treats.
