Villa Gjeçaj was my favourite Guesthouse experience in Albania. The setting is superb - surrounded by the wonderful mountains (like all guest house in Theth) but with the space and garden to properly enjoy the view and act as a backdrop to breakfast and dinner. The food was wonderful - genuinely some of the best we ate in the country (and we are in a lot of special places!). Gjeçaj have Albanian customers who travel from across the country to eat there. But the main reason I liked it so much is because it is a genuinely family-run guesthouse. The waiters were particularly friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Silvan, in particular, showed genuine hospitality and gave up his own time to help when some of our travel plans went awry. It was a pleasure chatting to him and hearing about his experiences in Theth over the years as well as his own travel experiences. Thanks Silvan!

The nephew and owner could not have been nicer. They returned to me a phone that went missing - so very kind of them. The dinner at their place and the area where it was served will stay in my memory forever. Excellent food, location and staff.
We had a bit of a tough time because of a personal situation - but unfortunately, just as we were trying to solve the issue, their generator went out, which caused the wifi to go out and the water pressure to go down to zero- all in one 30 minutes time period. This may be usual for Theth, so I should not blame the hotel at all. As stated, the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Beware, no A/C, but again, this may be the norm for Theth.
