Nice spacious room for Japanese standards. All the staff are kind and polite. Great public bath area. The Japanese style breakfast buffet is spectacular. Delicious, plenty of options, great way to start the day. Free ramen for late-night dinner, free ice-cream and yakult drinks near the bath area. A small manga library where you can take to your room to read. Free laundry machines. Dryer machines were ¥100 for 20 minutes. I could usually get all my clothes dry with 40 minutes. Plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby.
Only downside was, there were too many tourists from a certain large neighbor country who showed a disregard (or lack of knowledge) of the Japanese public bath etiquette: I saw a kid swimming in the hot bath, head and everything in the water, while the father looked undisturbed. Men dipping the towel inside the bath, then splashing themselves with the wet towel (and splashing me too). Men noisily hawking and spitting in the shower... And that's a few examples that I witnessed while I was there. I can't even imagine what else happened there that I didn't see. I know it's not really the hotel's fault, they have plenty of signs with the rules, so I don't know what else could be done...

This was our last stop after Tokyo and Kyoto for 3 nights. And it was a perfect mid-priced stay for us. Just 5 minutes walk from the main centre in Dotonbori with excellent transport links. The room was perfectly comfortable but the icing on the cake was the Spa on the 2nd level. This was open from 3pm until 10am and offered a much needed pampering after over a week on our feet. Sauna, cold bath, hot spring baths and washing/drying stations with everything you need - shaving foam, soaps, creams etc. It was a real treat, and free! Staff were excellent when needed. Japan is so cheap at the moment for UK visitors and none of our stays disappointed.

Having access to sento or onsen, along with free meals and dessert, is always a welcome amenity.
Since there's no daily cleaning included, it's reasonable to expect at least daily towels, coffee or tea, and basic amenities like toothbrushes. However, we had to ask for these items from reception every day, which was inconvenient.
