A Beautiful Hotel with Classic London Charm – Great Stay, but Inflexible Booking Policies
Hotel London 1889 in Batumi is a beautiful property that combines classic London-style interiors with modern comforts. The rooms are elegantly designed, spacious, very comfortable, and equipped with all the modern amenities one would expect from a hotel of this standard.
The breakfast was excellent, with a very good selection, and the other meals were equally enjoyable. The hotel also has an impressive casino, which looked very good, although I did not get an opportunity to try it.
The check-in and check-out experiences were extremely smooth, and a special mention goes to the ever-smiling and helpful bellman, whose warm hospitality made a lovely impression.
The location is another big advantage, with several excellent restaurants within walking distance, including a good sushi restaurant and another serving HB beer.
There were, however, a couple of areas where the experience could have been better.
Firstly, the room’s coffee machine did not have coffee pods or cups, which was surprising considering the otherwise excellent amenities.
Secondly, the hotel’s booking policies seemed rather rigid. I had booked four nights but could stay for only two. I missed my flight on the first night and requested the hotel to adjust or modify my booking, but unfortunately, they declined. Subsequently, due to unavoidable family commitments, I had to check out one night earlier, but again, no refund or adjustment was offered for the unused night.
While I understand that hotels have cancellation policies, a little flexibility and understanding in genuine circumstances would have made the experience significantly better, particularly for guests who have already paid for multiple nights.

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel London 1889.
The location is excellent, right in the heart of Old Batumi, with Europe Square, Piazza Square, Batumi Boulevard, the beach, restaurants, and cafés all within easy walking distance.
The two ladies at reception were extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful, and the gentleman who assisted with our luggage was also very friendly and attentive. When we were not fully satisfied with the location of our first room, they immediately checked what other rooms were available and even allowed us to see another room before confirming the change. The new room turned out to be exactly what we wanted, and we really appreciated their flexibility and excellent service.
The exterior of the hotel is beautiful and has a very elegant historic character. The hotel was also very clean and well maintained, and both the room and common areas felt comfortable and tidy throughout our stay.
Overall, the service was excellent, the staff were professional and helpful, and the location could not be better for exploring Batumi on foot. We had a very positive experience and would gladly stay here again.
There was nothing significant that we disliked. Overall, our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable.

Good location, friendly staff, and a clean, comfortable room.
There was a wide selection at breakfast, but the quality of the food was rather poor. If you try to eat healthily, it can be quite difficult to find suitable options from the available selection.
