Vast improvement on a few years ago. Friendly staff, comfortable room, and reasonable breakfast, including eggs and ham.
Good value. Unlike last time, would be tempted to return.
Reception procedure wasn't obvious on arrival (one inevitably walks straight to the bar counter in a pub).
Slightly noisy out the front, being on the main road, not helped by being in front of a junction too. But not too bad.
Maybe I missed it, but a limited choice of cereals at breakfast.

It was comfortable enough for two nights. I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.
I made a late booking (about 8pm) and said I would arrive between 9 and 10. When I turned up the door was unlocked but all the lights were off and no one was there. There was a table with keys on it and a note of who was in which room, but I wasn't on it. I rang the number that was written down about 5 times, but there was no answer. In the end I just picked a key for a room with no name next to it and let myself in. In the morning I told a lady who was very nice which room I was in, and she said that was fine. It was a very bizarre experience, anyone could just wander in and pick an empty room and crash without paying. I'm glad I had a portable door lock with me for extra security.
It was cleanish, although the bathroom could do with a deep clean and there were cobwebs all over the ceiling. The sink in room 7 was much too small and didn't drain very well. There was a lot of dust on the kettle. There was a ton of black mould around the window in the stairwell. The pillows were very thin, and there was just a thin sheet on the mattress, no protector or anything.
I did have a look in one of the other empty rooms and they looked much nicer but I'd unpacked by that point and it was around midnight so I didn't want to disturb others by moving, so maybe it's just room 7 that could do with a bit of an overhaul.
